Methods: We performed a cohort study using the Mass General Brigham AAV Cohort, which includes proteinase 3-ANCA+ and myeloperoxidase (MPO)-ANCA+ AAV patients diagnosed from January 1, 2002 to December 31, 2019. We included cases in which the initial remission induction strategy was based either on rituximab or cyclophosphamide.

Background: Under normal circumstances, frontline staff are focused on clinical ethics, which foreground what is best for individuals and families. Public health crises such as a pandemic require staff to adapt rapidly to focus on what benefits communities, at times compromising individual well-being and autonomy.
Objective: To evaluate the performance of an internally developed and previously validated artificial intelligence (AI) algorithm for magnetic resonance (MR)-derived total kidney volume (TKV) in autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD) when implemented in clinical practice.
Patients And Methods: The study included adult patients with ADPKD seen by a nephrologist at our institution between November 2019 and January 2021 and undergoing an MR imaging examination as part of standard clinical care. Thirty-three nephrologists ordered MR imaging, requesting AI-based TKV calculation for 170 cases in these 161 unique patients.
A major function of TAR DNA-binding protein-43 (TDP-43) is to repress the inclusion of cryptic exons during RNA splicing. One of these cryptic exons is in UNC13A, a genetic risk factor for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and frontotemporal dementia (FTD). Our studies using human clinical samples and mouse models demonstrated that aberrantly elevated phospholipase D1 (PLD1) is associated with amyloid beta (Aβ) and tau-driven synaptic dysfunction and underlying memory deficits. While knocking out the lipolytic gene is not detrimental to survival across species, elevated expression is implicated in cancer, cardiovascular conditions and neuropathologies, leading to the successful development of well-tolerated mammalian PLD isoform-specific small molecule inhibitors.

To date, no study has investigated this.
Methods: A randomized, crossover trial investigated the effects of upper versus lower cervical mobilization on both components of the stress response simultaneously.
Understanding the ecological consequences of supplemental feeding to both hummingbirds and the plants they pollinate is complicated by logistical challenges associated with assessing relative dietary resource use with commonly applied observational methods. Here, we describe the results of research conducted to assess the relative use of feeder and flower nectar by Broad-tailed () and Rufous hummingbirds () using two distinct methodological variations to measure the δC values of exhaled CO. Because of the relatively quick time in which both species switch from exogenous to endogenous resources to fuel metabolism, our experiment allowed us to assess resource use at two timescales.

Photomechanical molecular crystals have garnered attention for their ability to transform light into mechanical work, but difficulties in characterizing the structural changes and mechanical responses experimentally have hindered the development of practical organic crystal engines. This study proposes a new computational framework for predicting the solid-state crystal-to-crystal photochemical transformations entirely from first principles, and it establishes a photomechanical engine cycle that quantifies the anisotropic mechanical performance resulting from the transformation. Where the literature does reference values other than autonomy, such values are considered in the context of being a guide to whether or not a resident is autonomous, rather than being important values in their own right.
Objective: This paper draws on qualitative data gathered as part of a larger study in order to inform practice on how care workers respond to intimacy issues that arise with residents with dementia and to inform a general ethics of sex and sexuality, demonstrating that an approach which permits value pluralism can be appropriate in certain contexts.
