The majority of patients with bladder cancer suffer from tumour recurrence. Identifying prognostic factors for tumour recurrence is crucial for treatment and follow-up in affected patients. The study aimed to assess the impact of somatic mutations in bladder cancer on patient outcomes and tumour recurrence.

Methods: A comprehensive literature search was conducted following the PRISMA guidelines. Databases searched included PUBMED, CINAHL, Medline, and ProQuest, focusing on articles published between 2014 and 2024.
Objective: Smoking cessation has been suggested as having the potential to improve the outcomes of carotid endarterectomy (CEA) and mitigate the risk of long-term stroke in patients with asymptomatic carotid stenosis (ACS). This study aims to compare the perioperative and long-term outcomes of CEA in patients with ACS across different smoking status groups.
Methods: All patients receiving an elective CEA for ACS between 2013 and 2023 were identified in the Vascular Quality Initiative (VQI).
Diamond-Blackfan anemia syndrome (DBAS) is a rare inherited bone marrow failure (BMF) syndrome characterized by erythroid aplasia, congenital malformations, and cancer predisposition. With its genetic heterogeneity, variable penetrance and expressivity, DBAS poses significant diagnostic challenges, necessitating advancements in genetic testing for improved accuracy. Here, we present the case of an 18-year-old male with a long-standing macrocytic anemia that remained undiagnosed despite standard whole exome sequencing (WES).

Due to the trend toward delayed childbearing, many women of reproductive age are being diagnosed with breast cancer and treated with chemotherapy or hormone therapy which can adversely affect their fertility. This literature review discusses the effects of breast cancer treatment on fertility and options for fertility preservation.

Alzheimer's disease is characterized by progressive memory loss, the impairment of behavior, and mood changes, as well as the disturbed daily routine of the patient. Although there are some active molecules that can be beneficial by halting the progression of the disease, the blood-brain barrier and other physiological barriers hinder their delivery and, consequently, the appropriate management of the disease.

Design: Twenty-three adolescents with SCD and 21 healthy siblings aged 13 to 17 years participated in eight focus groups.
Results: Thematic analysis identified three themes: learning to accept SCD, coping with SCD and influences on health behaviours.
Lemierre syndrome is a rare complication of oropharyngeal infection that causes septic thrombophlebitis in the internal jugular vein. Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, this condition has been dangerously overlooked and poses an even greater threat when complicated by vascular pathologies. A case is presented where the patient required emergency endovascular exclusion of a right internal carotid artery pseudoaneurysm due to Lemierre syndrome.

Genome editing of hematopoietic stem cells allows correction of underlying mutations as curative therapy. As potentially safer alternatives to double-strand-break-based editors, base editors (BEs) catalyze base transitions for precision editing of DNA target sites, prompting us to reclone and evaluate two recently published adenine BEs (ABEs; SpRY and SpG) with relaxed protospacer adjacent motif requirements for their ability to correct the common splice mutation.

In this level of research, established human NSCLC cell lines as well as experimental animals are widely used to detect novel biomarkers and pharmacological targets to treat NSCLC. The epigenetic background holds a great potential for the identification of epi-biomarkers for treatment response however, it is highly complex and requires precise definition as these phenomena are variable between NSCLC subtypes and systems origin.

Recent Findings: A systematic search was conducted across PubMed, EBSCO, Taylor and Francis, Science Direct and Cochrane Library using specific keywords.
Colorectal cancer (CRC) ranks as the third leading cause of cancer-related mortality worldwide. Recent years have witnessed an increase in the incidence of CRC among adults <50 years old on a global scale. The increased incidence is associated with several modifiable risk factors, including obesity, type II diabetes, physical inactivity and frequent antibiotic use.

This urges nursing leaders to adapt and master effective leadership; particularly, transformational leadership (TFL) is shown to scientifically be the most successfully recognized leadership style in healthcare, focusing on relationship building while putting followers in power and emphasizing values and vision.
Aim: To examine how transformational leadership affects nurses' job environment and nursing care provided to the patients and patients' outcomes.
Purpose Of Review: Breast cancer (BC) is the leading cause of death among women aged 44-55 years globally. Pro-inflammatory food can cause tissue-level inflammation, thereby creating a carcinogenic microenvironment and promoting breast cancer. The aim of this review is to provide an overview of the association between inflammation and nutrition and clinical outcomes in breast cancer survivors.

However, the molecular mechanisms underlying oomycete recognition in animals remain fully unknown. We performed here a forward genetic screen to uncover regulators of gene induction and found several independent loss-of-function alleles of and which encode receptor tyrosine kinases belonging to the -specific KIN-16 family.

This study compares medication delivery with commonly used devices in normal and altered anatomy (post functional endoscopic sinus surgery) using sinus surgery models (Phacon).
Methods: Medication delivery was simulated via nasal drops, nasal spray and an irrigation device (Neilmed Sinus Rinse).
Objective: This scoping review will identify barriers and facilitators for the adoption of 7 healthy lifestyle components by female breast cancer survivors. This will be achieved by mapping the World Cancer Research Fund/American Institute for Cancer Research recommendations and the Lifestyle Medicine pillars.
Introduction: Adherence to healthy lifestyle components (including weight management, physical activity, healthy diet, restorative sleep, avoidance of risky substances, forming and maintaining healthy relationships, and stress management) may improve the quality of life of breast cancer survivors and reduce the risk of adverse patient outcomes.
Background: Colorectal cancer was reported as the second most common cause of cancer death worldwide, in the year 2020. This disease is an important public health problem considering its high incidence and mortality rates.
Summary: The molecular events that lead to colorectal cancer include genetic and epigenetic abnormalities.
The niche field of photochemistry offers opportunities that are not found in "traditional" ground state chemical pathways. Aminochlorinated derivatives are an interesting family of 1,2-difunctionalised compounds that provide access to a variety of natural products and pharmaceutical active substances. A practical, catalyst-free chloroamination protocol is described herein, providing access to intermediates of great importance, utilising mild and photochemical reaction conditions (370 nm), where N-chlorosulfonamides are used as both nitrogen and chlorine sources.
