12-Spin-Qubit Arrays Fabricated on a 300 mm Semiconductor Manufacturing Line.

Intel's efforts to build a practical quantum computer are focused on developing a scalable spin-qubit platform leveraging industrial high-volume semiconductor manufacturing expertise and 300 mm fabrication infrastructure. Here, we provide an overview of the design, fabrication, and demonstration of a new customized quantum test chip, which contains 12-quantum-dot spin-qubit linear arrays, code named Tunnel Falls. These devices are fabricated using immersion and extreme ultraviolet lithography (EUV), along with other standard high-volume manufacturing (HVM) processes as well as production-level process control.

Improving first responders' perceptions of overdose events and survivors through tailored occupational health-focused training co-facilitated by overdose survivors.

Background: First responders (law enforcement officers, emergency medical services, and firefighters) frequently interact with people who use drugs (PWUD). Based on the nature and outcomes of such encounters, these interactions have the potential either to reduce harm, or perpetuate it. Given increased funding and attention for first responder-led interventions involving PWUD, we must identify the most critical training for improving negative beliefs about these interventions and populations.

Improving School Mental Health via National Learning Collaboratives With State and Local Teams: Components, Feasibility, and Initial Impacts.

School systems need practical and effective quality improvement strategies to advance school mental health promotion, prevention, and treatment services. Collectively, these efforts can be used to promote child and adolescent mental health, well-being, and academic success. The current study reports on the feasibility, initial impacts of, and recommendations from a national, multi-level learning collaborative conducted by the National Center for School Mental Health, University of Maryland School of Medicine and administered throughout the United States.

Microbial community composition predicts bacterial production across ocean ecosystems.

Microbial ecological functions are an emergent property of community composition. For some ecological functions, this link is strong enough that community composition can be used to estimate the quantity of an ecological function. Here, we apply random forest regression models to compare the predictive performance of community composition and environmental data for bacterial production (BP).

Changes in microbial community structure of bio-fouled polyolefins over a year-long seawater incubation in Hawai'i.

Plastic waste, especially positively buoyant polymers known as polyolefins, are a major component of floating debris in the marine environment. While plastic colonisation by marine microbes is well documented from environmental samples, the succession of marine microbial community structure over longer time scales (> > 1 month) and across different types and shapes of plastic debris is less certain. We analysed 16S rRNA and 18S rRNA amplicon gene sequences from biofilms on polyolefin debris floating in a flow-through seawater tank in Hawai'i to assess differences in microbial succession across the plastic types of polypropylene (PP) and both high-density polyethylene (HDPE) and low-density polyethylene (LDPE) made of different plastic shapes (rod, film and cube) under the same environmental conditions for 1 year.

Probing single electrons across 300-mm spin qubit wafers.

Building a fault-tolerant quantum computer will require vast numbers of physical qubits. For qubit technologies based on solid-state electronic devices, integrating millions of qubits in a single processor will require device fabrication to reach a scale comparable to that of the modern complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) industry. Equally important, the scale of cryogenic device testing must keep pace to enable efficient device screening and to improve statistical metrics such as qubit yield and voltage variation.

Data-Informed Communication: How Measurement-Based Care Can Optimize Child Psychotherapy.

Measurement-based care (MBC) research and practice, including clinical workflows and systems to support MBC, are grounded in adult-serving mental health systems. MBC research evidence is building in child and adolescent services, but MBC practice is inherently more complex due to identified client age, the family system and the need to involve multiple reporters. This paper seeks to address a gap in the literature by providing practical guidance for youth-serving clinicians implementing MBC with children and their families.

Leveraging Measurement-Based Care to Reduce Mental Health Treatment Disparities for Populations of Color.

Disparities in mental health treatment have consistently been documented for clients of color as compared to White clients. Most mental health care disparities literature focuses on access to care at the point of initial engagement to treatment, resulting in a dearth of viable solutions being explored to retain clients in care once they begin. Measurement-based care (MBC) is a person-centered practice that has been shown to improve the therapeutic relationship, make treatment more personalized, and empower the client to have an active role in their care.

An evaluation of first responders' intention to refer to post-overdose services following SHIELD training.

Background: First responders [law enforcement officers (LEO) and Fire/Emergency Medical Services (EMS)] can play a vital prevention role, connecting overdose survivors to treatment and recovery services. This study was conducted to examine the effect of occupational safety and harm reduction training on first responders' intention to refer overdose survivors to treatment, syringe service, naloxone distribution, social support, and care-coordination services, and whether those intentions differed by first responder profession.

Methods: First responders in Missouri were trained using the Safety and Health Integration in the Enforcement of Laws on Drugs (SHIELD) model.

The State School Mental Health Profile: Findings from 25 States.

Background: State-level leadership and conditions are instrumental to local and regional comprehensive school mental health system (CSMHS) quality, sustainability, and growth. However, systematic documentation of state-level school mental health (SMH) policy, infrastructure, funding, and practice is limited.

Methods: Using a multi-phase, multi-method process, we developed the State School Mental Health Profile (State Profile) to offer a comprehensive landscape of state SMH efforts.

Microbial metabolomic responses to changes in temperature and salinity along the western Antarctic Peninsula.

Seasonal cycles within the marginal ice zones in polar regions include large shifts in temperature and salinity that strongly influence microbial abundance and physiology. However, the combined effects of concurrent temperature and salinity change on microbial community structure and biochemical composition during transitions between seawater and sea ice are not well understood. Coastal marine communities along the western Antarctic Peninsula were sampled and surface seawater was incubated at combinations of temperature and salinity mimicking the formation (cold, salty) and melting (warm, fresh) of sea ice to evaluate how these factors may shape community composition and particulate metabolite pools during seasonal transitions.

Depth drives the distribution of microbial ecological functions in the coastal western Antarctic Peninsula.

The Antarctic marine environment is a dynamic ecosystem where microorganisms play an important role in key biogeochemical cycles. Despite the role that microbes play in this ecosystem, little is known about the genetic and metabolic diversity of Antarctic marine microbes. In this study we leveraged DNA samples collected by the Palmer Long Term Ecological Research (LTER) project to sequence shotgun metagenomes of 48 key samples collected across the marine ecosystem of the western Antarctic Peninsula (wAP).

Evaluating Strategies to Promote Effective, Multidisciplinary Team Collaboration in School Mental Health.

Multidisciplinary teams of school- and community-employed mental health, health, and educational staff work together in schools to offer a full continuum of mental health promotion, prevention, early intervention, and treatment services and supports. Intentional teaming structures and practices are essential to ensure teams deliver effective, coordinated services and supports. The current study investigated the extent to which continuous quality improvement strategies improved school mental health team performance during a 15-month national learning collaborative for 24 school district teams.

Active bystandership by youth in the digital era: Microintervention strategies for responding to social media-based microaggressions and cyberbullying.

Microaggressions are intentional or unintentional slights, insults, invalidations, and offensive behaviors that communicate hostile or derogatory messages to minoritized populations. When microaggressions cross over to social media, they can be considered a form of cyberbullying, which occurs over digital devices and harms, threatens, undermines, or socially excludes others. Microaggressions and cyberbullying have adverse mental health outcomes for racial and cultural minority youth, and there is an urgent need for practical strategies youth can use online to interrupt and disarm negative and harmful social media content.

Electrosynthesis of Au nanocluster embedded conductive polymer films at soft interfaces using dithiafulvenyl-functionalized pyrene.

Nanoparticle (NP) embedded conductive polymer films are desirable platforms for electrocatalysis as well as biomedical and analytical applications. Increased catalytic and analytical performance is accompanied by concomitant decreases in NP size. Herein, highly reproducible electrogeneration of low dispersity Au nanocluster embedded ultra-thin (∼2 nm) conductive polymer films at a micro liquid|liquid interface is demonstrated.

Part II: Missouri's Fentanyl Poisonings Rise to Record Levels.

Missouri's dramatic rise in fentanyl-related overdoses was reported in Part I of this two-part series. In Part II, we report that previous efforts to combat the surge in illicit fentanyl supply from China failed, as Chinese factories shifted production to basic fentanyl precursor chemicals, known as dual-use pre-precursors. Mexican drug cartels now synthesize fentanyl from these basic chemicals and have overpowered the Mexican government.

A Roadmap for Measurement-based Care Implementation in Intensive Outpatient Treatment Settings for Children and Adolescents.

Measurement-based care (MBC), the routine collection and use of patient-reported data to monitor progress and tailor treatment, has been predominantly studied in adult treatment settings. Although growing evidence supports MBC effectiveness with youth in outpatient settings and university training clinics, there is a substantial dearth of findings about successful implementation of MBC in "real world" youth treatment settings, particularly intensive settings offering group-based treatment. The current manuscript provides a foundational model of MBC implementation for "real world" intensive outpatient programs (IOP) for youth using the organizational framework of the Consolidated Framework for Implementation Research (CFIR).

Part I: Missouri's Fentanyl Poisonings Rise to Record Levels.

Missourians are dying of fentanyl poisoning at an unprecedented rate. We identified growth areas in Missouri for fatal fentanyl encounters in rural and western counties. Though the deaths occur for a multitude of reasons, a growing trend adds to the surge in fentanyl fatalities: poisonings from counterfeit pills.

Measurement feedback system implementation in public youth mental health treatment services: a mixed methods analysis.

Background: Prior studies indicate the effectiveness of measurement-based care (MBC), an evidence-based practice, in improving and accelerating positive outcomes for youth receiving behavioral health services. MBC is the routine collection and use of client-reported progress measures to inform shared decision-making and collaborative treatment adjustments and is a relatively feasible and scalable clinical practice, particularly well-suited for under-resourced community mental health settings. However, uptake of MBC remains low, so information on determinants related to MBC practice patterns is needed.

Clinical hypnosis can reduce lower urinary tract symptoms in individuals with chronic pain.

Study Purpose: Lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) can occur in chronic pain populations at high rates and drastically affect quality of life. Hypnosis is a nonpharmacological treatment used in chronic pain known to have beneficial implications to health outside of pain reduction. This study evaluated the potential for hypnosis to reduce LUTS in a sample of individuals with chronic pain, if baseline LUTS severity affected outcomes, and specific LUTS that may respond to hypnosis.

Dispositional optimism and optimistic bias: Associations with cessation motivation, confidence, and attitudes.

Objective: To test whether 2 conceptually overlapping constructs, dispositional optimism (generalized positive expectations) and optimistic bias (inaccurately low risk perceptions), may have different implications for smoking treatment engagement.

Method: Predominantly Black, low-income Southern Community Cohort study smokers (n = 880) self-reported dispositional optimism and pessimism (Life Orientation Test-Revised subscales: 0 = neutral, 12 = high optimism/pessimism), comparative lung cancer risk (Low/Average/High), and information to calculate objective lung cancer risk (Low/Med/High). Perceived risk was categorized as accurate (perceived = objective), optimistically-biased (perceived < objective), or pessimistically-biased (perceived > objective).
