Background: The Achilles tendon is the thickest tendon in the human body and is responsible for plantar flexion with muscle contraction. It is able to withstand tensile loads as large as ten times the body's weight or greater at times of peak stress on the tendon. Due to the repetitive and massive stress inflicted on the Achilles tendon, it is prone to injuries, especially in running and jumping athletes.

A Tillaux Fracture and Concurrent Nondisplaced Salter-Harris Type III Fracture of the Distal Fibula: A Case Report.

The Salter-Harris classification system categorizes pediatric fractures in relation to the physis. A Salter-Harris type III fracture occurs from the physis extending to the epiphysis. Tillaux fractures are a type of Salter-Harris type III fracture that occurs due to incomplete fusion of the growth plate and includes the anterolateral tibial epiphysis.

As usage rates increase for these fixation devices, complications from their insertion are becoming more prevalent. Lateral hip pain from proximal locking device insertion and prominence continues to be one of the most frequent complaints regarding hardware irritation following this surgical procedure.

Bone Marrow Edema, Clinical Significance, and Treatment Options: A Review.

Bone marrow edema (BME) is a descriptive term used to describe high-signal intensity changes detected on magnetic resonance fluid-sensitive sequences that could be attributed to a number of underlying pathologies. Regardless of the cause, physiologic remodeling of the subchondral bone can be limited because of ongoing joint forces, increased focalization of stress, and reduced healing capacity of the subchondral bone. BME is a known prognostic factor associated with pain, dysfunction, and progressive cartilage damage.

Short-Term Outcomes for the Biologic Treatment of Bone Marrow Edema of the Knee Using Bone Marrow Aspirate Concentrate and Injectable Demineralized Bone Matrix.

Purpose: To evaluate short-term outcomes for the biologic treatment of bone marrow edema (BME) of the knee using bone marrow aspirate concentrate (BMAC) and injectable demineralized bone matrix (iDBM).

Methods: We performed a review of prospectively collected data from patients who underwent treatment for bone marrow lesions (BMLs) of the knee using BMAC and iDBM (IntraOsseous BioPlasty; Arthrex, Naples, FL) between May 2017 and December 2018. Inclusion criteria included patients aged 18 to 65 years with the presence of BME on T2-weighted magnetic resonance imaging in the subchondral weightbearing region of the tibia or femoral condyle, with pain corresponding to the same compartment.

Aim Or Objective: To perform a systematic review on the outcomes and return to sport (RTS) following Bankart repair in adolescent athletes.

Evidence Review: A systematic review using the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis guidelines was conducted of studies reporting outcomes following open and/or arthroscopic Bankart repair using modern suture anchors following traumatic anterior shoulder dislocations in adolescent patients (ages 10-19 years).

Variability of Outcome Reporting Following Arthroscopic Bankart Repair in Adolescent Athletes: A Systematic Review.

Purpose: To conduct a systematic review of the literature to assess the variability of the reporting of outcome measures after arthroscopic Bankart repair for traumatic anterior shoulder instability in the adolescent population.

Methods: A systematic review was conducted investigating all studies reporting outcomes after arthroscopic Bankart repair in the adolescent population. Four databases (Medline, EMBASE, Ovid, and Google Scholar) were screened for clinical studies involving the arthroscopic management of anterior shoulder instability in adolescents.

Arthroscopic Scapulothoracic Decompression for Snapping Scapula Syndrome.

Snapping scapula syndrome at the superomedial corner of the scapula can lead to significant shoulder dysfunction. Bursectomy with or without partial scapulectomy is currently the most beneficial primary method of treatment in patients in whom nonoperative therapy fails. Arthroscopic access to the scapulothoracic space is simple and reproducible with the technique described in this report.
