Introduction: To report the incidence of lower leg fasciotomies in tibial shaft and plateau fractures and explore the incidence of potential missed acute compartment syndrome (ACS) with widespread, selective, or no invasive monitoring (IM).
Methods: This is a retrospective review of adult patients with diaphyseal tibial fractures (Orthopaedic Trauma Association 42A-C), and proximal tibial fractures (Orthopaedic Trauma Association 41A-C) treated surgically at a Level 1 trauma center from 2001 to 2020. Main outcomes of interest include lower extremity fasciotomy rates and incidence of potential missed ACS (abnormal neurovascular examination, sensory changes, chronic pain, claw toes, or amputation) in diaphyseal and proximal tibial fractures at three time intervals: widespread use of IM (w-IM) (2000 to 2010), selective IM (s-IM) (2011 to 2015), and clinical examination with a high index of suspicion alone without IM (CES), 2016 to 2020.

Background & Aims: Reversion-inducing cysteine-rich protein with Kazal motifs (RECK) is an extracellular matrix regulator with anti-fibrotic effects. However, its expression and role in metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH) and hepatic fibrosis are poorly understood.
Methods: We generated a novel transgenic mouse model with RECK overexpression specifically in hepatocytes to investigate its role in Western diet (WD)-induced liver disease.
Aims: While internet search engines have been the primary information source for patients' questions, artificial intelligence large language models like ChatGPT are trending towards becoming the new primary source. The purpose of this study was to determine if ChatGPT can answer patient questions about total hip (THA) and knee arthroplasty (TKA) with consistent accuracy, comprehensiveness, and easy readability.
Methods: We posed the 20 most Google-searched questions about THA and TKA, plus ten additional postoperative questions, to ChatGPT.

Rotator Cuff Tendinopathies (RCT) are debilitating conditions characterized by alterations in the extracellular matrix (ECM) of the shoulder tendon, resulting in pain, discomfort, and functional limitations. Specific mediators, including HIF-1α, TGF-β, MMP-9 and others have been implicated in the morphological changes observed in the tendon ECM. These mediators rely on karyopherins, a family of nuclear proteins involved in nucleo-cytoplasmic transport; however, the role of karyopherins in RCT remains understudied despite their potential role in nuclear transport mechanisms.

Methods: A systematic review of studies reporting on professional baseball players who sustained LD or TM injuries was performed. Data were collected including patient presentation, injury management strategies, return-to-play (RTP) rates, time to RTP, patient-reported outcome measures, player performance after RTP, preinjury factors associated with injury, and complications.
Background: The purpose of this investigation was to determine the effect of travel distance on achieving the minimal clinically important difference (MCID) on all three commonly used patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) for the shoulder more than 1 year following total shoulder arthroplasty (TSA).
Methods: Patients undergoing reverse or anatomic TSA at a high-volume tertiary referral center between September 2016 and August 2018 were retrospectively reviewed. Patients were divided into 2 groups: driving distance of >50 miles from the location of surgery (referral group) and driving distance of <50 miles (local group).

Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is a multimorbidity disorder ranging from excess accumulation of fat in the liver (steatosis) to steatohepatitis (NASH) and end-stage cirrhosis, and the development of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) in a subset of patients.
