Agouti-related peptide (AgRP) neurons are thought to indirectly regulate the activity of hypothalamic gonadotrophin-releasing hormone neurons which control fertility. AgRP neurons also drive caloric intake and are modulated by metabolically-relevant hormones, providing a link to the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis. In mice expressing Cre-dependant designer receptors (DREADDs) in AgRP neurons, we activated or silenced these neurons in vivo using the synthetic ligand clozapine-N-oxide (CNO) to observe the effect of AgRP neuron activity on timing of puberty.

The individual in our case was troubled with difficult to control arrhythmia in the context of RYR2-mutation positive catecholaminergic polymorphic ventricular tachycardia (CPVT) despite medication. Recurrent implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) shocks occurred for ventricular tachycardia (VT) and ventricular fibrillation (VF) as well as inappropriate shocks as a result of rapidly conducted atrial fibrillation (AF). Purpose Of Review: The present narrative review analyzes emerging research implicating vitamin D status and supplementation with skeletal muscle homeostasis and functions in two distinct segments of the adult population: young athletes and older adults.

Recent Findings: Vitamin D deficiency compromises multiple indices of muscle function in young athletes and older adults. A variety of vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) supplementation regimens may transition young athletes and older adults from deficient or inadequate to adequate vitamin D status.

We previously reported pro-survival effects of Wnt3a and Wnt5a proteins in vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs). Wnt5a achieved this through induction of Wnt1-inducible signalling pathway protein-1 (WISP-1) consequent to β-catenin/CREB-dependent, TCF-independent, signalling. It has been shown that acute static stretching (SS) may increase flexibility, improve performance and reduce the risk of muscle strains, but may also result in decreased maximal force output. Literature review revealed little research had specifically been done on the most effective ways to stretch the hip adductor muscles.
