Background: Adolescents (10-19 years old) have poor outcomes across the prevention-to-treatment HIV care continuum, leading to significant mortality and morbidity. We conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis of interventions that documented HIV outcomes among adolescents in HIV high-burden countries.
Methods: We searched PubMed, EMBASE, Scopus, and the Cochrane Library for studies published between January 2015 and September 2024, assessing at least one HIV outcome along the prevention-to-care cascade, including PrEP uptake, HIV testing, awareness of HIV infections, ARV adherence, retention, and virological suppression.
Objectives: Inhalants are often used for their psychoactive effects, producing feelings of euphoria. Inhalant and solvent use is a serious public health concern, yet little is known about their effects on perinatal, fetal, and child outcomes. The aim of our review is to evaluate the impact of inhalant use by pregnant people on maternal, fetal, neonatal, and early childhood outcomes.

We evaluated the impact of using PoC versus SoC approaches on the uptake of VL testing, treatment, and turnaround times from testing to treatment across the HBV care cascade.
Methods: We searched 5 databases, 6 conference websites, and contacted manufacturers for unpublished reports, for articles with or without a comparator (SoC VL testing), and had data on the uptake of VL testing, treatment, or turnaround times between hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) testing, VL testing, and treatment in the cascade.
Objective: To conduct a systematic review of interventions to improve perinatal outcomes to mitigate pregnancy-related mortality and morbidity in Black birthing people.
Data Sources: We searched 5 databases from 2000 through the final search date of April 5, 2023: Cumulative Index of Nursing and Allied Health Literature Plus with Full Text (EBSCOhost), Embase (Elsevier), PubMed, and Scopus (Elsevier) and ClinicalTrials.gov.
In migratory animals, high mobility may reduce population structure through increased dispersal and enable adaptive responses to environmental change, whereas rigid migratory routines predict low dispersal, increased structure, and limited flexibility to respond to change. We explore the global population structure and phylogeographic history of the bar-tailed godwit, Limosa lapponica, a migratory shorebird known for making the longest non-stop flights of any landbird. Using nextRAD sequencing of 14,318 single-nucleotide polymorphisms and scenario-testing in an Approximate Bayesian Computation framework, we infer that bar-tailed godwits existed in two main lineages at the last glacial maximum, when much of their present-day breeding range persisted in a vast, unglaciated Siberian-Beringian refugium, followed by admixture of these lineages in the eastern Palearctic.

This study compared the accuracy of an artificial intelligence model (Annalise Enterprise CTB) with consensus neuroradiologists' interpretations in detecting mass effect and vasogenic edema.
Materials And Methods: A retrospective stand-alone performance assessment was conducted on data sets of noncontrast CT head cases acquired between 2016 and 2022 for each finding.
Effective menopausal care constitutes a continuum of symptom management and optimization of medical health, including cardiovascular, bone, and mental health. Menopausal knowledge and prescribing patterns changed significantly after the publication of the Women's Health Initiative. A systematic review was conducted to address three key questions about disparities in menopausal care: 1) What differences in menopausal care are experienced by specific populations? 2) What disparities are there in access to preventive care and symptomatic treatment? 3) What interventions reduce disparities in menopause management? PubMed, PsychInfo, SCOPUS, and EMBASE were queried to identify relevant articles published in the United States between 2002 and 2023.

Animals that move long distances, such as migratory birds, are especially vulnerable to change since they need chains of intact habitat along their migratory routes. Estimating the resilience of such species to environmental changes assists in targeting conservation efforts.

Our implementation science team helped three Ontario LTC homes to implement an intervention to allow family members to enter the homes during pandemic lockdowns.
Objective: We used a variety of methods to support the implementation, and this paper reports results from an Ontario-wide survey intended to help us understand the nature of the care provided by family caregivers.
Background: Hypertensive disorders of pregnancy can lead to persistent hypertension (pHTN) in the months and even years following delivery. However, its prevalence in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) is not well characterized.
Objective: To synthesize available evidence on the pHTN prevalence following a pregnancy complicated by hypertensive disorders of pregnancy in LMICs.
Background And Purpose: The use of MR imaging in emergency settings has been limited by availability, long scan times, and sensitivity to motion. This study assessed the diagnostic performance of an ultrafast brain MR imaging protocol for evaluation of acute intracranial pathology in the emergency department and inpatient settings.
Materials And Methods: Sixty-six adult patients who underwent brain MR imaging in the emergency department and inpatient settings were included in the study.
Introduction: A designathon is a three-stage participatory activity informed by design thinking. There is a growing literature on designathons in health. This study synthesised designathons' effectiveness and implementation-related factors to address health challenges.

Stated preference elicitation methods have been used in the medical field to help evaluate complex treatment decision-making. The aim of this study was to conduct a scoping review to assess the evidence base for the use of preference elicitation tools or willingness to pay/willingness to accept methods for HCC treatment decision-making from both the patient and provider perspective.

Large animal studies have shown that intramyocardial injection of human pluripotent stem cell-derived cardiomyocytes (hPSC-CMs) following a myocardial infarction result in cell grafts but also ventricular arrhythmias. We hypothesized that intramyocardial injection of committed cardiac progenitor cells (CCPs) derived from iPSCs, combined with cardiac fibroblast-derived extracellular matrix (cECM) to enhance cell retention will: i) form cardiomyocyte containing functional grafts, ii) be free of ventricular arrhythmias and iii) restore left ventricular contractility in a post-myocardial infarction (MI) cardiomyopathy swine model.

To better protect, promote, and support optimal breastfeeding practices among working women in Africa, this scoping review sought to understand how paid work influences infant feeding practices in the first 6 mo of life and what support women need to manage work and optimal infant feeding practices. We systematically searched PubMed, Scopus, Global Health, and CINAHL Plus, screened 2436 abstracts, and reviewed 322 full-text articles using Covidence for review and charting.

Objective: To present telehealth service utilization rates across rehabilitation specialties, treatment outcome indicators, and patient satisfaction outcomes from a retrospective clinical sample.
Methods: The study sample consists of 34 patients who underwent telehealth/hybrid Intensive Outpatient Programming (IOP) at a major rehabilitation hospital.
Objective: Unilateral absence of a pulmonary artery (UAPA) is a rare congenital malformation associated with hemoptysis, pulmonary hypertension, and infection. Little is known about the impact on pregnancy outcomes. We sought to synthesize the existing literature on pregnancy outcomes in patients with maternal UAPA.

CFs are increasingly of interest for tissue engineering and drug development applications, as they provide synergistic support to cardiomyocytes through direct cell-to-cell signaling and cell-to-ECM interactions via soluble factors, including cytokines, growth factors and extracellular vesicles. CFs can be activated to a cardiac myofibroblast (CMF) phenotype upon injury or stimulation with transforming growth factor beta 1.
