Lateral ankle sprain (LAS) is one of the most common types of injury in professional football (soccer) players with high risk of recurrence. The rehabilitation after LAS in professional football players is often still time-based and relies on anecdotal experience of clinicans. There is still a lack of utilization of criteria-based rehabilitation concepts after LAS in professional football.

Six electronic databases were screened separately for time-loss and recurrence rates after lateral ankle sprains in elite football players. A total of 13 (recurrence) and 12 (time-loss) studies met the previously defined inclusion criteria.

Purpose: To assess a new method of power measurement of soft and rigid contact lenses. The method is the phase shifting schlieren method, as embodied in the Nimo TR1504 instrument.

Materials And Methods: Three Nimo TR1504 instruments were used to measure the power related dimensions of: (a) a range of custom toric rigid lenses; (b) a range of commercially available spherical hydrogel lenses; and (c) a commercially available range of toric silicone hydrogel lenses.

Allergic contact granuloma due to palladium following ear piercing.

Two cases of sarcoidal-type allergic contact granuloma due to metals in ear piercing are presented, the first to palladium (Pd) only, and the second to Pd and possibly also to other metals. Both the patients developed papulonodular lesions at the helices following ear piercing, which after 3-4 weeks, became more granulomatous and very resistant to treatment. Indeed, repeated intralesional injections with corticosteroids produced only a temporary regression of the lesions.
