Exposure routes and transport of microplastics (MPs) from the environment into the human bodies deserve considerable attention. Intravenous injection has been reported as a direct MP-intrusion pathway. However, it is unclear whether or how the infusion fluid composition influences polymer degradation and MP release.

It is characterized by the iron-dependent accumulation of reactive oxygen species, which induce lipid peroxidation (LPO), and is orchestrated by the interplay between iron, lipid peroxides, and glutathione. In this review, we emphasize the frequently overlooked role of iron in LPO beyond the classical iron-driven Fenton reaction in several crucial processes that regulate cellular iron homeostasis, including iron intake and export as well as ferritinophagy, and the emerging roles of endoplasmic reticulum-resident flavoprotein oxidoreductases, especially P450 oxidoreductases, in modulating LPO.

To address the problem of substrate inhibition of microorganisms during wastewater treatment, which leads to unstable wastewater discharge, this study proposes an approach to enhance the tolerance of bacterial community by artificially setting up a non-lethal high substrate environment. And the feasibility of this approach was explored by taking the inhibition of anammox process by nitrite as an example.

Recent evidence has pinpointed a key role of the microbiome in human respiratory health and disease. However, significant knowledge gaps still exist regarding the connection between bacterial communities and adverse effects caused by particulate matters (PMs). Here, we characterized the bacterial microbiome along different airway sites in occupational pneumoconiosis (OP) patients.

Dying tumor cells play vital roles in promoting the survival of living tumor cells; however, few studies have investigated the effects of dying tumor cells on the tumor microenvironment. Since myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSCs) and macrophages constitute the pre-metastatic niche (PMN), we used a 4-nitroquinoline-1-oxide induced in situ tumor model to investigate the effects of irradiation on MDSCs and macrophages in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC).

This study aimed to clarify SLC7A11's expression and correlation with nuclear expression of nuclear factor erythroid-2 (NRF2)-associated radioresistance in ESCC.
Methods: We included 127 ESCC patients who received radical chemoradiotherapy.

The low growth rate of anammox bacteria is one of the main obstacles to its broad use in removing biological nitrogen in sewage treatment. Free cells show the characteristics of relatively rapid growth. To increase the growth rate, this study cultivated free-living anammox bacteria using a membrane bioreactor.

Introduction:: Apelin plays an important part in regulating blood pressure, metabolism, and the development of cancer. Recent studies have investigated the association of apelin polymorphisms and hypertension risk, but no meta-analysis has been conducted.
Materials And Methods:: Five studies were included in this meta-analysis in total.
Purpose: Autophagy, as a highly conserved cellular degradation and recycling process, plays an important part in maintaining cellular homeostasis. PKC signaling is involved in multiple pathways including cell cycle progression, tumorigenesis, migration and autophagy.
Methods: Literatures about PKC and autophagy from PubMed databases were reviewed in this study.
