The Sub-Saharan region of southern Africa is characterized by high temperatures, low rainfall, and poor land-use management practices such as continuous cropping without replenishment of soil nutrients. The combination of these factors has resulted in nutrient depletion and land degradation. The current study aimed at investigating the effect of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) and bacteria inoculation on soil chemical properties in field-grown forage legumes, namely, (mucuna) (lablab) and (cowpea), in the semi-arid region of the Eastern Cape Province (South Africa).

Objective: Incorporating high fibre ingredients into pig diets has the potential to reduce odour emissions from of pigs. The current study was carried out to determine effect of diets containing 0, 80 and 160 g/kg of each of lucerne hay, maize cobs and sunflower husks on the chemical characteristics and odours from pig slurries.
Methods: Twenty eight pigs averaging 18±2.
Objective: The objective of the study was to determine the influence of varying fibrous diets on fecal characteristics of growing pigs.
Methods: A total of 104 pigs (initial weight 18±2.0 kg) were used in the study.
