Oropouche fever, a debilitating illness common in South America, is caused by Oropouche virus (OROV), an arbovirus. OROV belongs to the Peribunyaviridae family, a large group of RNA viruses. Little is known about the biology of Peribunyaviridae in host cells, especially assembly and egress processes.

Augmentative lag screws as a treatment for aseptic hypertrophic nonunion after internal fracture fixation.

Background: Hypertrophic nonunion after intramedullary (IM) nailing and plating is Uncommon and the treatment remained controversial. The aim of this study was to show the result of a simple augmentative lag screws technique for vital non-unions after internal fixation PATIENTS AND METHODS: We retrospectively reviewed the patients with nonunion after internal fixation between January 2016 to August 2022. Patients with unacceptable shortening or deformity were excluded as well as nonunion septic cases.

Delayed surgery and health related quality of life in patients with proximal femoral fracture.

This study aimed to establish factors associated with delayed surgery in patients with proximal femoral fracture and to assess patients' health-related quality of life (HRQoL) after surgery including all-cause 6-months mortality. This was a single-center, observational, prospective cohort study that included patients with a proximal femur fracture. We described patients' HRQoL measured by EuroQoL (EQ-5D-5L and EQ-VAS) questionnaire and perioperative complications (including mortality) 6 months after surgery.

Accurately measuring the ability of the K/HDEL receptor (ERD2) to retain the ER cargo Amy-HDEL has questioned earlier results on which the popular receptor recycling model is based upon. Here we demonstrate that ERD2 Golgi-retention, rather than fast ER export supports its function. Ligand-induced ERD2 redistribution is only observed when the C-terminus is masked or mutated, compromising the signal that prevents Golgi-to-ER transport of the receptor.

Oropouche Virus Glycoprotein Topology and Cellular Requirements for Glycoprotein Secretion.

Oropouche virus (OROV; genus Orthobunyavirus) is the etiological agent of Oropouche fever, a debilitating febrile illness common in South America. We used recombinant expression of the OROV M polyprotein, which encodes the surface glycoproteins Gn and Gc plus the nonstructural protein NSm, to probe the cellular determinants for OROV assembly and budding. Gn and Gc self-assemble and are secreted independently of NSm.

Minimally invasive plate osteosynthesis for humeral shaft fractures: are results reproducible?

Minimally invasive plate osteosynthesis (MIPO) has been advocated as a safe approach to humeral shaft fracture management. We evaluated the reproducibility of this technique in a regional hospital. Thirty-five patients underwent MIPO of humerus shaft fractures.

Introduction: The article describes evaluation of the first year of implementation of a process-management project and a quality-improvement programme linked to economic incentives carried out at CAPSE (Consortium of Primary Healthcare of Eixample, Barcelona City, Catalonia, Spain).

Objective: To evaluate the changes and to describe the experience of a variable payment scheme linked to quality objectives in two primary healthcare centres in Spain.

Method: Data from a variable payment scheme for professionals, where the variable payment consisted of three parts, were analysed.
