Background: Total lymphoid irradiation (TLI) is a conditioning regimen in allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT) which may reduce long-term toxicities attributed to other techniques, such as total body irradiation (TBI). At our institution, TLI treatments were first planned with the three-dimensional conformal radiation therapy (3D-CRT) technique and later with volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT). With the recent availability of a basic helical tomotherapy (HT), the possible dosimetric gain of the latter for TLI is studied.

Background: Plastic scintillators have been used as radiation detectors for the past few years, as they are water-equivalent and independent of the dose, dose rate, and angle of incidence. In addition, they are also independent of the presence of a magnetic field and could be used for in vivo dosimetry in an MR-Linac. With the advent of a new commercial scintillation detector, Blue Physics Model 10, its characterization has been performed on an MR-Linac with a view to future applications.

This work aims to study the effect on surface dose and dose distribution caused by the Elekta Fraxion cranial immobilization system. The effect of Fraxion inclusion in Elekta Monaco treatment planning system and its calculation accuracy is also checked. To study the dose attenuation, a cylindrical phantom was located over the Elekta Fraxion with an IBA CC13 ionization chamber placed in the central insert at the linac isocenter.

The present research was designed to evaluate the adaptive responses to oxidative stress and inflammation in handball players subjected to well-controlled training intervals over one-year of competition. Seven blood samples were collected over the season of the study, approximately one a month. Plasma lipid peroxidation, nitrite, cytokines (IL-1β, IL-6, INFγ and TNFα), and the glutathione cycle in erythrocytes, were measured.
