The objective of this study was to understand the meaning that the nurses working in the Family Health Strategy assign to the nursing consultation in child care. The theoretical framework was Symbolic Interactionism, and the methodological was the Grounded Theory. This study is a descriptive and quantitative research that aims to characterize the toy/therapeutic toy teaching and analyze the facilities and difficulties of its development in the graduation courses in nursing in Sao Paulo State. The data was collected in 40 institutions, where there were 76 participant professors. The results showed that the theme is approached in the programmatic content of Pediatric Nursing in most of these institutions, in the third, more effectively in the last ten years, both in the theoretical and practical teaching.

The purposes of this qualitative study were to understand the meaning of the interactions experienced by the family during a child's hospitalization, identify the family's demands and construct a theoretical model representing this experience. Symbolic Interactionism was adopted as a theoretical and Grounded Theory as a methodological reference framework. Data were collected by means of observation and interviews with five families of children hospitalized due to acute disease with a good prognosis.

This study was carried out with 3 to 6 year-old boys undergoing circumcision, with a view to understanding the meaning of the interactions they experienced them during the post-operative period as well as identifying their strategies while experiencing the surgery. Symbolic Interactionism was used as a theoretical reference framework, and Grounded Theory as a methodological framework. Due to these children's verbal development characteristics, the interview was mediated by therapeutic play.

The present exploratory study aims at analysing a population of 493 male and female schoolchildren and adolescents, with age ranging from 7 to 18 years old, attending three Youth Centers and a Professional Training Center located in the south region of São Paulo, Brazil. The interest on body function and sexuality disclosed by those subjects led to the developing of a Sexual Orientation Program by the University Extension Project "Corporality and Health", fostered by the Universidade Federal de São Paulo-UNIFESP.
