In 2021, 32% of adult meat consumers in Scotland exceeded the 70 g/d recommended limit of red and red processed meat (RPM) intake. We analyzed RPM consumption behaviors among adults in the Scottish Health Survey (2021) to better understand this consumer group. Consumers were categorized into low, medium, and high consumers, and overall, mean intake was 66 g/d.

Objective: To develop a menu and resource to illustrate to consumers and health professionals what a healthy balanced diet looks like over the course of a week.

Design: Development and analysis of an illustrative 7 d 'eatwell week' menu to meet current UK recommendations for nutrients with a Dietary Reference Value, with a daily energy base of 8368 kJ (2000 kcal). Foods were selected using market research data on meals and snacks commonly consumed by UK adults.

This retrospective study investigated the effect of recombinant human bone morphogenetic protein-2 (rhBMP-2) mixed with cancellous allograft on fracture healing compared to iliac crest autograft in the treatment of long bone nonunion. Eighty-nine patients with 93 established long bone nonunions treated between January 2002 and June 2004 at a single academic Level I trauma center were evaluated. Patients with clinical and radiographic evidence of failed fracture union underwent nonunion debridement, revision of fixation, and implantation at the nonunion site of either rhBMP-2 or the standard treatment autologous iliac crest bone graft.

Background: University students are commonly overlooked when diet of populations is measured and there is a lack of comprehensive dietary assessment in whole university student populations. To measure diet of undergraduate students, a new online 121-item Food Recall Checklist (FoRC) was designed as an alternative to a non-weighed record (food diary). This article reports the comparison between the new dietary assessment method (FoRC) and the food diary as a measure of energy (kJ), fat (g), Non-Starch Polysaccharide (NSP) (g), fruit and vegetables (g), breakfast cereal (g) and bread (g) and alcohol (units) intake.
