Background: Anemia is more common in people with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and is more likely when glycemic control is poor. Anemia in T2DM can reduce quality of life and increase cardiovascular risk, and therefore, its prevalence and contributory factors in diabetic patients with normal kidney function are important to understand.
Aim And Objectives: The aim of this study is to assess the prevalence of anemia in individuals with type 2 diabetes and normal kidney function, focusing on blood glucose, serum creatinine, HbA1c, hemoglobin, and hematocrit levels.
Background Blood transfusion services are crucial for modern medical care, particularly for surgical interventions, chronic diseases, pregnancy complications, and malignancies. There is an increasing demand for blood products in India; hence, optimizing resource utilization in blood banks is essential. This study aims to evaluate the crossmatch-to-transfusion (C/T) ratio as a tool for analyzing and optimizing the utilization of blood bank resources.

The Type and Screen (T and S) method allows for efficient detection of clinically significant antibodies while reducing unnecessary crossmatching. This study evaluates T and S's impact on turnaround time and man-hour utilization compared to conventional crossmatching.

In India, the handloom sector is a significant part of the informal economy, employing millions and preserving rich cultural heritage. Despite its economic and cultural importance, the sector faces severe challenges, including poor working conditions that lead to a high prevalence of work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WMSDs).

These antibodies have, however, occasionally been linked to hemolytic transfusion reactions (HTR). We report a case of naturally occurring anti-Lewis-a (Le-a) in a 58-year-old patient found during routine blood grouping.

The advent of definitions such as clinical gingival health additionally helped in distinguishing between intact and reduced periodontium. The purpose behind introducing new systems was to guide practitioners to improve on managing the requirements of the patients effectively.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFBackground The new classification system for periodontal and peri-implant diseases mentioned a few key points, including (1) "clinical gingival health," which was defined for the first time, and (2) staging and grading system. Thus, the present study defines the practicability of using the current classification system in day-to-day practice. Aim The primary aim of this study is to determine the effectiveness of the new classification system for periodontal and peri-implant diseases and its application in routine dental practices.

Objective: A comprehensive nutrition policy containing a broad package of cross-sector and synergistic policy actions is required to attenuate the systemic drivers of poor nutrition. The current study aims to critically analyse trends in the scope of federal nutrition policy actions in Australia between 2007 and 2018 by: (1) describing the changes in nutrition policy actions, benchmarked against an international best-practice policy framework and (2) investigating how and why the scope of these policy actions have changed over time by examining the decision-making processes that led to the establishment of Australia's Healthy Food Partnership (the Partnership).
Design: Qualitative case study involving documentary analysis and key-informant interviews.
Background: Despite the potential benefits of virtual reality technology in physical rehabilitation, only a few studies have evaluated the efficacy of this type of treatment in patients with neck pain.
Objective: The aim of this study was to compare the effects of virtual reality training (VRT) versus conventional proprioceptive training (CPT) in patients with neck pain.
Materials And Methods: Forty four participants with nonspecific chronic neck pain were randomly assigned to VRT or CPT in this assessor-blinded clinical trial.
Unlabelled: This was a study to compare the diagnostic efficacies of endoscopic ultrasonography (EUS), CT, PET/MR imaging, and PET/CT for the preoperative local and regional staging of esophageal cancer, with postoperative pathologic stage used as the reference standard.
Methods: During 1 y, 19 patients with resectable esophageal cancer were enrolled and underwent preoperative EUS, CT, PET/CT, and PET/MR imaging. A chest radiologist and nuclear medicine physician retrospectively reviewed the images and assigned tumor and lymph node stages according to the seventh version of the TNM system and the American Joint Committee on Cancer staging system.
Purpose: The aim of this study was to evaluate the usefulness of the metabolic tumor volume (MTV) measured by F-18 Fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography (FDG PET-CT) in predicting recurrence free survival (RFS) in patients with esophageal cancer.
Methods: Forty-five patients with squamous cell carcinoma, who had undergone whole-body F-18 FDG PET-CT scans before surgical resection, were included in this study. All patients were treated with Ivor-Lewis esophagectomy.
