[Blade implants: new ideas].

It is often thought that the insertion of laminar implants is imprecise, poorly standardized, and consequently, does not favour integration into the bone. We have been able to confirm that laminar implants are integrated into the bone in an experimental dog model and in pathology studies. To avoid the inconveniences often encountered, we developed a new concept laminar implant.

Currently, in France, chewing tobacco has only a small place amongst the factors of tobacco intoxication. The same is not true for North Africa, where it is very widely used, and in the United States, where it is enjoying considerable popularity. The consequences of this type of tobacco intoxication can be severe for the oral cavity: reactional keratosis, gingival retraction, dental coating, periodontitis, risk of malignant degeneration.

A case is reported that is exceptional in more than one respect. The mandibular region was the site of development of three cysts: a radiculo-dental cyst, a coronodental cyst in appearance but which could have been an epidermoid cyst and a typical epidermoid cyst. Lingual nerve lesions are a rare, major complication of implantations.

[Pitfalls in implantology].

Of the numerous pitfalls associated with implant surgery, some immediate complications may occur as after all operations, including edema, pain, infection, while one is specific to implant surgery : the early rejection of the implant. Late complications include mobility and rejection of the implant, its breakage, lesions of adjacent teeth, of the maxillary sinus, the nasal fossae and the mandibular canal, and the risk of loss of bone substance and muccous bands. It is essential to evaluate possible general risks of an implant, and all possible data should be made available to surgeous.
