Prevalence of the Metabolic Syndrome Among Batswana Adults in Urban and Semi-Urban Gaborone.

Purpose: The metabolic syndrome (MetS) is on the rise in Sub-Saharan Africa, attributed to increased and uncontrollable urbanization accompanied by its lifestyle changes. Non-communicable diseases, such as hypertension, diabetes, and obesity, which are components of the (MetS) are also on the increase in Botswana. To date, no study has determined the prevalence of the MetS in the apparently healthy Batswana adults.

Influence of exercise intensity on the decision-making performance of experienced and inexperienced soccer players.

The aim of this study was to examine the decision-making performance of experienced and inexperienced soccer players at four exercise intensities (rest, 40%, 60%, and 80% maximal aerobic power). The decision-making performance of inexperienced players was expected to demonstrate an inverted-U shape with increasing levels of exercise. For the experienced players, decision making was predicted to show no change in performance with increased exercise intensity.
