Introduction: Milk fat globule membrane (MFGM) is a complex lipid-protein structure in mammalian milk and human milk that is largely absent from breastmilk substitutes. The objective of this trial is to investigate whether providing infant formula enriched with MFGM versus standard infant formula improves cognitive development at 12 months of age in exclusively formula-fed full-term infants.

Methods And Analysis: This is a randomised, controlled, clinician-blinded, researcher-blinded and participant-blinded trial of two parallel formula-fed groups and a breastfed reference group that were recruited in the suburban Adelaide (Australia) community by a single study centre (a medical research institute).

The southern king crab (SKC) Lithodes santolla is a crustacean parasitised by the bopyrid Eremitione tuberculata. This study aimed to analyse spatial and temporal variations in E. tuberculata prevalence in the juvenile SKC population of San Jorge Gulf (SJG) and adjacent waters (Argentine Patagonia), and evaluate the effects of the parasite on SKC juveniles to improve our understanding of its impact as a disease on SKC health condition.

In this work, we report the discovery and characterization of Garey24, a bacteriophage that forms medium-size plaques with halo rings isolated from a soil sample in Funes, Argentina. Its 41,522 bp circularly permuted genome contains 63 putative protein-coding genes. Based on gene content similarity, Garey24 was assigned to subcluster EA1.

Multidrug-Resistant Bacterial Colonization and Infections in Large Retrospective Cohort of Mechanically Ventilated COVID-19 Patients.

Few data are available on incidence of multidrug-resistant organism (MDRO) colonization and infections in mechanically ventilated patients, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic. We retrospectively evaluated all patients admitted to the COVID-19 intensive care unit (ICU) of Hub Hospital in Milan, Italy, during October 2020‒May 2021. Microbiologic surveillance was standardized with active screening at admission and weekly during ICU stay.

The purpose of the current study was to assess the frequency of overactive bladder syndrome (OBS) symptoms and their relationship to gastrointestinal symptoms in youth with abdominal pain-associated disorders of gut-brain interaction (AP-DGBI). This is a retrospective study of 226 youth diagnosed with an AP-DGBI. As part of standard care, all patients completed a symptom questionnaire regarding gastrointestinal and non-gastrointestinal symptoms including increased urinary frequency, nighttime urination, and urinary urgency.

Design: Children who completed study feeding were invited to participate in follow-up assessments: cognitive development across multiple domains (primary outcome; Wechsler Preschool & Primary Scale of Intelligence, 4 Edition), inhibitory control/rule learning (Stroop Task), flexibility/rule learning (Dimensional Change Card Sort), and behavior/emotion (Child Behavior Checklist).

Pneumothorax in Intubated Patients With COVID-19: A Case Series.

Pneumothorax is a rare complication among mechanically ventilated patients since low tidal volumes are used nowadays instead of traditional high tidal volumes, but the incidence is slightly higher in patients with high positive end-expiratory pressure (PEEP). Herein we describe a case series of nine patients who were on mechanical ventilation due to acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) secondary to coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) and developed pneumothorax in due course. A retrospective analysis was done on COVID-19 intubated patients from March 2020 to June 2020 in a community hospital in Central New Jersey, which was one of the early hit states in the United States at the beginning of the pandemic.

Impact of Udenafil on Echocardiographic Indices of Single Ventricle Size and Function in FUEL Study Participants.
