Ocrelizumab-associated cryptogenic organizing pneumonia in multiple sclerosis: Two case reports and comprehensive literature review.

Background: Cryptogenic organizing pneumonia (COP) is an interstitial lung disease, with causes including anti-CD20 antibodies. Ocrelizumab is a humanized monoclonal antibody against CD20 approved for use in relapsing-remitting or primary progressive multiple sclerosis (MS), with no conclusive data regarding pulmonary toxicity.

Cases: We describe two cases of COP associated with ocrelizumab use in multiple sclerosis patients.

Novel non-peptide uracil-derived human gonadotropin-releasing hormone receptor antagonists.

Gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) is the main regulator of the reproductive system, acting on gonadotropic cells by binding to the GnRH1 receptor (GnRH1R). Traditionally, therapies targeting this receptor have relied on peptide modulators, which required subcutaneous or intramuscular injections. Due to the limitations of the parenteral administrations, there is a growing interest in developing oral small molecule modulators of GnRH1R as more convenient therapeutic alternatives.

Neurolymphomatosis mimicking a Guillain-Barré syndrome triggered by COVID-19 vaccination.

Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS) is an acute disorder of the peripheral nervous system, causing flaccid paralysis, areflexia, and variable sensory involvement. Proximal as well distal muscles of the limbs can be involved, and in most severe and advanced cases progresses to respiratory failure and death. GBS is considered an autoimmune disease, and at the basis of the attack at the peripheral nervous system different mechanisms have been recognized, in particular viral infections or other immune stimulations.

Background: Human papillomavirus (HPV) infection is linked to several cancers, including anal and oral cancers. The incidence of anal cancer is particularly high among HIV-positive men who have sex with men (MSM). DNA methylation markers have shown promise as biomarkers for identifying precancerous lesions and cancer in HPV-infected individuals.

The development of targeted therapies offers new hope for patients affected by incurable cancer. However, multiple challenges persist, notably in controlling tumor cell plasticity in patients with refractory and metastatic illness. Neuroblastoma (NB) is an aggressive pediatric malignancy originating from defective differentiation of neural crest-derived progenitors with oncogenic activity due to genetic and epigenetic alterations and remains a clinical challenge for high-risk patients.

The influence of sex on heart failure mortality.

Aims: Little research has investigated how sex may affect the prognosis of patients with chronic heart failure (HF). The present study was aimed at exploring sex-specific differences in prognosis in a cohort of patients with chronic HF, categorized according to severity of left ventricular dysfunction (HFrEF, HFmrEF and HFpEF), right ventricular (RV) dysfunction and ischemic (IHD) or nonischemic (no-IHD) etiology.

Methods: This retrospective analysis included 1640 HF patients of whom 24% were females, 759 patients had IHD, 1110 patients had HFrEF, 147 patients had HFmrEF and 383 patients had HFpEF.

Evaluation of the Local and Peripheral Immune Responses in Patients with Cystic Echinococcosis.

Background: Cystic echinococcosis (CE) cysts may persist for decades because of immune modulation mechanisms. Here, we characterize the cysts and the blood immune responses in patients with CE.

Methods: We enrolled 61 patients with CE and 19 control subjects.

Automated radiosynthesis and preclinical evaluation of two new PSMA-617 derivatives radiolabelled via [F]AlF method.

Background: In the last decade the development of new PSMA-ligand based radiopharmaceuticals for the imaging and therapy of prostate cancer has been a highly active and important area of research. The most promising derivative in terms of interaction with the antigen and clinical properties has been found to be "PSMA-617", and its lutetium-177 radiolabelled version has recently been approved by EU and USA regulatory agencies for therapeutic purposes. For the above reasons, the development of new derivatives of PSMA-617 radiolabelled with fluorine-18 may still be of great interest.

The new neural pressure support (NPS) mode and the helmet: did we find the dynamic duo?

Background: Noninvasive ventilation (NIV) is commonly used in clinical practice to reduce intubation times and enhance patient comfort. However, patient-ventilator interaction (PVI) during NIV, particularly with helmet interfaces, can be challenging due to factors such as dead space and compliance. Neurally adjusted ventilatory assist (NAVA) has shown promise in improving PVI during helmet NIV, but limitations remain.

Studies of Social Anxiety Using Ambulatory Assessment: Systematic Review.

Background: There has been an increased interest in understanding social anxiety (SA) and SA disorder (SAD) antecedents and consequences as they occur in real time, resulting in a proliferation of studies using ambulatory assessment (AA). Despite the exponential growth of research in this area, these studies have not been synthesized yet.

Objective: This review aimed to identify and describe the latest advances in the understanding of SA and SAD through the use of AA.

Objective: Authors developed an Italian version of the Occupational Therapy Task Observation Scale (OTTOS) and an Italian version of the Comprehensive Occupational Therapy Evaluation Scale (COTES) and examined their reliability and validity.

When it comes to coping with stress, positive emotion upregulation is of utmost importance. Positive emotions have been suggested to be an important resource during stressful times since people try to create and upregulate pleasant emotional states when feeling stressed. Accordingly, individual differences in the ability to generate and savor positive emotional states could also affect one's skills in dealing with stress.

Prognostic value of deep echocardiographic phenotyping in pulmonary arterial hypertension.

Background: A novel approach to derive prognostic information from echocardiography in pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) is to define a phenotype of right heart function combining standard echocardiographic parameters which describe right ventricular pump function and systemic venous congestion. We tested the hypothesis that the combination of advanced strain imaging parameters could yield high prognostic accuracy.

Methods: This was a prospective observational study with a single centre derivation cohort and a second centre validation cohort.

Probiotics and Prebiotics Orally Assumed as Disease Modifiers for Stable Mild Atopic Dermatitis: An Italian Real-Life, Multicenter, Retrospective, Observational Study.

The role of the skin-gut axis in atopic dermatitis (AD) remains a subject of debate, limiting non-pharmacological interventions such as probiotics and prebiotics. To improve understanding of their potential as a monotherapy for stable mild cases, we conducted a real-life, multicenter, retrospective observational study in Italy. We administered three selected bacteria ( BS01, LP14, and LR05) orally to patients with mild atopic dermatitis without a placebo control group, following up for 12 weeks.

Diagnosis of Tuberculosis in a Case of Chronic Urticaria following Omalizumab Therapy.

In Italy, tuberculosis (TB) incidence in the last decade has remained constant at under 10 cases/100,000 inhabitants. In the Philippines, TB annual incidence is greater than 500 cases/100,000 inhabitants. Omalizumab is a humanized anti-IgE monoclonal antibody approved for the treatment of chronic spontaneous urticaria.

Neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) predicts mortality in hospitalized geriatric patients independent of the admission diagnosis: a multicenter prospective cohort study.

Background: The Neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) is a marker of poor prognosis in hospitalized older patients with different diseases, but there is still no consensus on the optimal cut-off value to identify older patients at high-risk of in-hospital mortality. Therefore, in this study we aimed at both validating NLR as a predictor of death in older hospitalized patients and assess whether the presence of specific acute diseases can modify its predictive value.

Methods: This prospective cohort study included 5034 hospitalizations of older patients admitted to acute care units in the context of the ReportAge study.

Synthesis of -oxyamide analogues of protein kinase B (Akt) targeting anionic glycoglycerolipids and their antiproliferative activity on human ovarian carcinoma cells.

-Oxyamides of bioactive anionic glycoglycerolipids based on 2--β-D-glucosylglycerol were efficiently prepared. However, the oxidation step of the primary hydroxyl group of the glucose moiety in the presence of the -oxyamide function appeared to be a difficult task that was nevertheless conveniently achieved for the first time by employing a chemoenzymatic laccase/TEMPO procedure. The obtained -oxyamides exhibited a higher inhibition of proliferation of ovarian carcinoma IGROV-1 cells in serum-free medium than in complete medium, similarly to the corresponding bioactive esters.

Adverse childhood experiences and alcohol use and misuse: Testing the impact of traditional and expanded adverse childhood experiences among racially/ethnically diverse youth transitioning into adulthood.

Objective: Traditional Adverse Childhood Experiences (T-ACEs), such as abuse and neglect, have been associated with an increased risk of youth alcohol use and misuse. This study aims to compare associations of T-ACEs and Expanded ACEs (E-ACEs), an expanded set of ACEs that encompass community-level adversities, with alcohol use and misuse by race/ethnicity.

Method: Data came from a three-wave (1998-1999; 1999-2000; 2004-2005) community-based study in Houston, including youth transitioning into adulthood.

Autotheory: Toward the Embodying of Analytic Framing.

Autotheory is an emerging idea in feminist theory that emphasizes the inevitability of the subjective and embodied personal within any development, understanding, or application of theory. Autotheory offers a way to bring the sexed and gendered body of the analyst back into view in clinical practice and is a possible route to relibidinizing psychoanalytic theory. The embodied part of the "personal" contribution of the analyst will be examined through conceptions of framing and the frame, extending and further conceptualizing ideas prominently addressed within relational and intersubjective theories.
