Purpose: Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) usually causes a mild disease in children and the most serious consequence is multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children (MIS-C). Currently, there are no data about the protective role of vaccination performed by parents on children regarding the development of MIS-C. Pediatric COVID-19 determines a mild clinical picture, but few data have been published about the correlation between disease severity and PCR amplification cycles of SARS-CoV-2 from respiratory samples. Neuropathy target esterase (NTE) is a protein involved in the development of a polyneuropathy caused by exposure to certain organophosphorus compounds. In vivo and in vitro studies have also associated NTE with embryonic development since NTE null mice embryos are non-viable, and silencing the NTE-codifying gene (Pnpla6) in mouse embryonic stem cells strongly alters the differentiation of vascular and nervous systems. Cells derived from superficial and deep lymph nodes of transgenic mice in which CD40L expression was deregulated were grown in vitro. After 3 months of interleukin 3 or interleukin 12 stimulation, the cells remained interleukin-independent, showed the same in vitro growth characteristics, but LIL3+ cells were tumorigenic when reinoculated in vivo in nude mice, whereas interleukin-12-treated cells did not induce tumors. Our cell lines could provide a useful model to study the perturbation of the homeostasis allowing us to elucidate the role of cytokines as modulators of differentiation in the lymphoproliferative disorders.
