The Self-Control Scale (SCS) is one of the most widely used measures in the clinical, personality, and social psychology fields. It is often treated as unidimensional, even though no research supports such a unidimensional factor structure. We tested the factor structure in an undergraduate sample as well as a community sample used for additional confirmatory analyses.

The Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation's Relating Clinical Outcomes in Multiple Myeloma to Personal Assessment of Genetic Profile study ( NCT01454297 ) is a longitudinal, observational clinical study of newly diagnosed patients with multiple myeloma (n = 1,143) where tumor samples are characterized using whole-genome sequencing, whole-exome sequencing and RNA sequencing at diagnosis and progression, and clinical data are collected every 3 months. Analyses of the baseline cohort identified genes that are the target of recurrent gain-of-function and loss-of-function events.

Heavy chain-only IgG bears a single variable domain and lacks the constant heavy (C) γ1 domain required for pairing with the light chain. It has not been reported whether this distinctive feature of IgG is also observed in the IgA isotype.

Here we provide direct evidence of a causative effect of the mutation on receptor mediated calcium signaling and calcium store responses in control cells transfected with mutant S100A3 and mutant S100A13. We demonstrate that the mutations lead to increased mitochondrial mass and hyperpolarization, both of which were reversed by transfecting patient-derived cells with the wild type S100A3 and S100A13, or extracellular treatment with the recombinant proteins.

The development of pressurized metered dose inhalers (MDIs) with greater sensitivity to the climate emergency using novel propellants with lower global warming potentials (GWPs), but comparable pharmacokinetic (PK) parameters to currently marketed MDIs, is a vital step toward reducing the impact of healthcare for respiratory disorders on climate change. This study evaluated the relative bioavailabilities of the individual components of a fixed-dose combination of budesonide/glycopyrrolate/formoterol fumarate (BGF) 160/9/4.

Aim: To describe changes in the volume and variation of coded clinical activity in general practice across six clinical areas: cardiovascular disease, diabetes, mental health, female and reproductive health, screening and related procedures, and processes related to medication.
Background: Inhaler technique errors are common in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) treatment, potentially leading to poor disease management. Our pooled analysis approach assessed correct use and ease-of-use of a placebo ELLIPTA dry-powder inhaler (DPI) in patients with COPD.
Methods: Adults with COPD from open-label/non-blinded studies evaluating a placebo ELLIPTA DPI and reporting outcomes of correct use (based on the ELLIPTA DPI patient information leaflet [PIL]) and/or ease-of-use were included.
Current management of heart failure (HF) is centred on modulating the progression of symptoms and severity of left ventricular dysfunction. However, specific understandings of genetic and molecular targets are needed for more precise treatments. To attain a clearer picture of this, we studied transcriptome changes in a chronic progressive HF model.

In this study, we tested a latent factorial approach to measure FAA. We assessed resting-state FAA at broad, low, and high alpha bands (8-13; 8-10.

We review the Machiavellianism literature with a particular focus on its measurement alongside narcissism and psychopathy in the so-called "Dark Triad" (DT). We discuss criticisms of Machiavellianism on the grounds of insufficient construct validity as well as its virtual indistinguishability from psychopathy when assessed by commonly used instruments.

Xenotransplantation is considered a potential option, but is yet to reach clinical practice. Although remarkable progress has been made in overcoming immunological rejection, issues with functionality are still to be resolved.

However, the use of EMMs in people with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) using the ELLIPTA dry powder inhaler has not been studied.
Methods: This was an open-label, single-arm, prospective observational study of EMMs and associated application (app) use over 12 weeks and up to 24 weeks (April-October 2019) in people with self-reported COPD aged ≥40 years enrolled in the COPD Patient-Powered Research Network, using an ELLIPTA inhaler.

Despite years of research demonstrating a relation between personality pathology and intimate partner violence (IPV), no meta-analysis has been published examining how well, or poorly, all ten personality disorders (PDs) predict IPV perpetration or victimization, nor has any meta-analysis examined these relations across types of IPV. Therefore, the present study was undertaken to synthesize existing research on the effects of all ten PDs, as well as psychopathy and global PD symptoms, on physical, psychological, and sexual IPV perpetration and victimization. An initial search in PsycINFO, PubMed, and Sociological Abstracts yielded 3988 results.

Background: The influence of peak inspiratory flow (PIF) on dose delivery from dry powder inhalers (DPIs) and association with treatment efficacy in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) has not been fully determined. In vitro studies have demonstrated adequate dose delivery through ELLIPTA DPI at PIF ≥30 L/min. This analysis of two clinical trials and a real-world population of COPD patients determined spirometric PIF distribution, and explored the relationship between PIF and outcomes in the trials.

Although the C57BL/6 J model is amongst the most widely used mouse model due to its susceptibility to diet-induced obesity (DIO), there are a number of limitations namely [1] that unambiguous fasting hyperglycemia can only be achieved via dietary manipulation and/or chemical ablation of the pancreatic beta cells. [2] Heterogeneity in the obesogenic effects of hypercaloric feeding has been noted, together with sex-dependent differences, with males being more responsive.

For two age groups of children with asthma, we determined the proportions who used the once-daily ELLIPTA dry-powder inhaler (DPI) correctly, and who found it easy to use.
Methods: This was a multicenter, single-arm, stratified, open-label, placebo study (NCT03478657).
Introduction: Training in correct inhaler use, ideally in person or by video demonstration, can minimize errors but is rarely provided in clinics. This open-label, low-intervention study evaluated critical error rates with dry-powder inhalers (DPIs), before and after training, in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
Methods: Patients prescribed an inhaled corticosteroid (ICS)/long-acting β-agonist (LABA) (ELLIPTA, Turbuhaler, or DISKUS), long-acting muscarinic antagonist (LAMA)/LABA (ELLIPTA or Breezhaler), or LAMA-only DPI (ELLIPTA, HandiHaler, or Breezhaler) were enrolled.
Background: Inhaler errors among patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) can reduce treatment efficacy.
Methods: This randomized, open-label, crossover study evaluated correct use of ELLIPTA versus DISKUS plus HandiHaler. Participants with COPD attended at least 3 study visits (Day 1 [Visit 1], Day 28 [Visit 2], and Day 56 [Visit 3]).
Research suggests that men and women differ on mean levels of Dark Triad personality constructs such as Machiavellianism, but few studies have investigated whether or not these differences are due to actual latent trait differences or bias in measurement. Further, recent research suggests important challenges associated with existing measures of MACH in terms of overlap with psychopathy and matching expert descriptions. The present study took a recently developed measure of Machiavellianism (the Five Factor Machiavellianism Inventory; FFMI), based on the five-factor model, and examined its invariance across gender.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFThe triarchic model of psychopathy proposes 3 distinct trait domains underlying psychopathy: boldness, meanness, and disinhibition. The original (and most widely used) measure developed from this model is the Triarchic Psychopathy Measure (TriPM), which yields a total psychopathy score as well as scores on each of the 3 domains. Recently, researchers have derived several alternative measures from other inventories to assess these 3 domains; however, the purported underlying 3-factor structure of the alternative scales has been relatively untested.
