Background: Microsuturing, the gold standard for peripheral nerve repair, can create tension and damage at the repair site, potentially impacting regeneration and causing neuroma formation. A sutureless and atraumatic polymer-assisted system was developed to address this challenge and support peripheral nerve repair. The system is based on a biocompatible and biodegradable biosynthetic polymer and consists of a coaptation chamber and a light-activated polymer for securing to the nerve.

In this study, we present a novel platform based on scanning microwave microscopy for manipulating and detecting tiny vibrations of nanoelectromechanical resonators using a single metallic tip. The tip is placed on the top of a grounded silicon nitride membrane, acting as a movable top gate of the coupled resonator. We demonstrate its ability to map mechanical modes and investigate mechanical damping effects in a capacitive coupling scheme, based on its spatial resolution.

Foix-Chavany-Marie syndrome (FCMS) is characterized by bilateral facio-glosso-pharyngo-masticatory paralysis of voluntary muscles due to bilateral infarction in the anterior opercular region of the brain. Here, we report a case of a 52-year-old female who presented with FCMS due to an acute left anterior opercular stroke in the setting of a chronic asymptomatic right opercular infarct and asymptomatic bilateral cerebellar infarcts. She also had a concurrent acute-on-chronic episode of congestive heart failure exacerbation.

Practical applications of heat transport control with artificial metamaterials will heavily depend on the realization of thermal diodes/rectifiers, in which thermal conductivity depends on the heat flux direction. Whereas various macroscale implementations have been made experimentally, nanoscales realizations remain challenging and efficient rectification still requires a better fundamental understanding of heat carriers' transport and nonlinear mechanisms. Here, we propose an experimental realization of a thermal rectifier based on two leads with asymmetric mass gradients separated by a ballistic spacer, as proposed in a recent numerical investigation, and measure its thermal properties electrically with the microbridge technique.

This paper reviewed the 2002 guidelines established by the National Federation of Cancer Centres. A group of experts nominated by the 3 French Societies involved in the treatment of cancer pain (AFSOS, SFAP, SFETD), established new guidelines ratios for morphine switching and/or changing of route of administration, in patients for whom either pain was not adequatly managed or adverse effects were unbearable. After a rapid reminder of the pharmacokinetics and metabolism properties of morphine, experts explained why the theory of opioid rotation (oxycodone, hydromorphone, fentanyl, methadone, tapentadol) using fixed equianalgesic ratios is not any more appropriate for a secure clinical practice.
