Sophisticated tools such as computer vision techniques in combination with 1D lineout type analyses have been used in automating the analysis of spectral data for high energy density (HED) plasmas. Standardized automation can solve the problems posed by the complexity of HED spectra and the quantity of data. We present a spectroscopic code written for automated and streamlined analysis of spatially resolved x-ray absorption data from the COAX platform on Omega-60.

Subcutaneous panniculitis-like T-cell lymphoma and lupus erythematosus profundus: a diagnostic dilemma.

A white Caucasian woman in her 30s presented with an indurated lesion on her right upper arm. Panniculitis was clinically suspected. Antinuclear antibody testing was positive but incisional biopsy showed subcutaneous panniculitis-like T-cell lymphoma (SPTCL), although with some unusual features more in keeping with lupus.

Learning From a National Quality Improvement Collaborative for Brief Resolved Unexplained Events.

Objective: In 2016, the American Academy of Pediatrics published the Brief Resolved Unexplained Event (BRUE) Clinical Practice Guideline (CPG). A multicenter quality improvement (QI) collaborative aimed to improve CPG adherence.

Methods: A QI collaborative of 15 hospitals aimed to improve testing adherence, the hospitalization of lower-risk infants, the correct use of diagnostic criteria, and risk classification.

Diagnostic testing for evaluation of brief resolved unexplained events.

Background: Since the publication of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) clinical practice guideline for brief resolved unexplained events (BRUEs), a few small, single-center studies have suggested low yield of diagnostic testing in infants presenting with such an event. We conducted this large retrospective multicenter study to determine the role of diagnostic testing in leading to a confirmatory diagnosis in BRUE patients.

Methods: Secondary analysis from a large multicenter cohort derived from 15 hospitals participating in the BRUE Quality Improvement and Research Collaborative.

Use of Videos by Health Care Professionals for Procedure Support in Acute Cardiac Care: A Scoping Review.

Background: Cardiology procedures are often life-saving and time-critical, but some are so infrequent that health care staff may have rarely encountered them in practice or need to refresh their skills rapidly. Videos demonstrating procedures have the potential to assist health care professionals and support safe patient care. This scoping review explores the research literature involving the use of video by health care professionals in hospitals.

Background: Procedural sedation (PS) is commonly performed in emergency departments (EDs) by nonanesthesiologists. Although adverse events (AEs) are rare, providers must possess the clinical skills to react in a timely manner. We previously described residents' experience and confidence in PS as part of a needs assessment.

Reciprocal SH2-SH3 Domain Contacts between ITK Molecules Limit T Cell Receptor Signaling in Th2-type CD4 T Cells.

The nonreceptor tyrosine kinase ITK is a key component of the T cell receptor (TCR) signaling pathway and is required for cytokine production by CD4 T cells that have differentiated into Th2 cells. Structural and biochemical studies suggest that contacts between the SH2 and SH3 domains of ITK mediate intermolecular self-association, forming a structure that restrains ITK activity by interfering with interactions between ITK and other components of the TCR signaling pathway. Wild-type (WT) ITK and a panel of ITK mutants containing amino acid substitutions in the SH2 and SH3 domains were tested for self-association and for binding to the adaptor protein SLP76, a key ligand for the ITK SH2 domain.

Brief resolved unexplained events: a new diagnosis, with implications for evaluation and management.

Brief resolved unexplained events (BRUE) are concerning episodes of short duration (typically < 1 min) characterized by a change in breathing, consciousness, muscle tone (hyper- or hypotonia), and/or skin color (cyanosis or pallor). The episodes occur in a normal-appearing infant in the first year of life, self-resolve, and have no readily identifiable explanation for the cause of the event. Previously called apparent life-threatening events (ALTE), the term BRUE was first defined by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) in 2016.

The transcriptional regulator GON4L is required for viability and hematopoiesis in mice.

The Gon4l gene encodes a putative transcriptional regulator implicated in the control of both cell differentiation and proliferation. Previously, we described a mutant mouse strain called Justy in which splicing of pre-mRNA generated from Gon4l is disrupted. This defect severely reduces, but does not abolish, GON4L protein expression and blocks the formation of early B-lineage progenitors, suggesting Gon4l is required for B-cell development in vertebrates.

Background: The relationship between non-Hispanic White (NHW) women's decreased neighborhood income between early-life and adulthood, individual risk-status at delivery, and small for gestational age (weight for gestation < 10th percentile, SGA) rates is unknown.

Objective: To determine the extent to which NHW women's exposure to decreased neighborhood income is a risk factor for SGA births, and whether their own birth weight modifies this relationship.

Cigarette and Cannabis Smoking Effects on GPR15+ Helper T Cell Levels in Peripheral Blood: Relationships with Epigenetic Biomarkers.

: Smoking causes widespread epigenetic changes that have been linked with an increased risk of smoking-associated diseases and elevated mortality. Of particular interest are changes in the level of T cells expressing G-protein-coupled receptor 15 (GPR15), a chemokine receptor linked with multiple autoimmune diseases, including inflammatory bowel disease, multiple sclerosis and psoriasis. Accordingly, a better understanding of the mechanisms by which smoking influences variation in the GPR15 helper T cell subpopulation is of potential interest.

Coactivation of NF-κB and Notch signaling is sufficient to induce B-cell transformation and enables B-myeloid conversion.

NF-κB and Notch signaling can be simultaneously activated in a variety of B-cell lymphomas. Patients with B-cell lymphoma occasionally develop clonally related myeloid tumors with poor prognosis. Whether concurrent activation of both pathways is sufficient to induce B-cell transformation and whether the signaling initiates B-myeloid conversion in a pathological context are largely unknown.

Draft Genome Sequences of Six Lactobacillus gasseri and Three Strains Isolated from the Female Bladder.

Lactobacilli are dominant members of the healthy female bladder microbiota. Here, we report the complete genome sequences of six and three strains isolated from catheterized urine samples. These genomes are the first publicly available sequences of the species from the bladder.

Triple differential cross sections for electron-impact ionization of methane at intermediate energy.

We report an experimental and theoretical investigation of electron-impact single ionization of the highest occupied molecular orbital 1t and the next highest occupied molecular orbital 2a states of CH at an incident electron energy of 250 eV. Triple differential cross sections measured in two different laboratories were compared with results calculated within the molecular 3-body distorted wave and generalized Sturmian function theoretical models. For ionization of the 1t state, the binary peak was observed to have a single maximum near the momentum transfer direction that evolved into a double peak for increasing projectile scattering angles, as has been seen for ionization of atomic p-states.

Recombination of Protons Accelerated by a High Intensity High Contrast Laser.

Short pulse, high contrast, intense laser pulses incident onto a solid target are not known to generate fast neutral atoms. Experiments carried out to study the recombination of accelerated protons show a 200 times higher neutralization than expected. Fast neutral atoms can contribute to 80% of the fast particles at 10 keV, falling rapidly for higher energy.

Methods Stratified and multilevel logistic regression analyses were completed on the Illinois transgenerational dataset of singleton births (1989-1991) to non-Latina White mothers (1956-1976) with an early-life residence in affluent neighborhoods (defined as the fourth quartile of income distribution). The breadth of descending neighborhood income was defined by mother's neighborhood income at the time of delivery.

Acute stimulation generates Tim-3-expressing T helper type 1 CD4 T cells that persist in vivo and show enhanced effector function.

T-cell immunoglobulin and mucin domain 3 (Tim-3) is a surface receptor expressed by T helper type 1 (Th1) effector CD4 T cells, which are critical for defence against intracellular pathogens and have been implicated in autoimmune disease. Previous studies showed that Tim-3 expression makes Th1 cells more susceptible to apoptosis and also marks functionally impaired T cells that arise due to chronic stimulation. However, other studies suggested that Tim-3-expressing Th1 cells do not always have these properties.
