Assessment of left atrial size, left atrial volume and left ventricular function, and its relation to spontaneous echocardiographic contrast in cats with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy: A preliminary study.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the association between spontaneous echocardiographic contrast (SEC) and left atrial (LA) parameters such as size, volume, and function in cats with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM). Cats were assigned into following groups: clinically healthy cats (n=8), HCM without SEC (n=12), and HCM with SEC (n=8). Left atrial shortening fraction (LAFS%) and left atrial fractional area change (LAFAC) had statistical significance between groups.

Plastic waste management in recycling facilities: Intentionally generated MPs as an emerging contaminant.

There is little knowledge about microplastic (MP) pollution in plastic recycling facility (PRF) wastewater. In this study, MPs in the wastewaters of four PRFs located in Türkiye were characterized for size, shape, color, and polymer types after sieving from 5,000 µm to the lowest 75 µm with seven sieves. The wet peroxide oxidation procedure was applied before attenuated total reflectance fourier transform infrared spectroscopy analysis for polymer identification.

Spontaneous type A aortic dissection in a dog.

A 10-year-old male Cocker Spaniel was presented for evaluation of right forelimb lameness and seizure-like episodes. Panting with increased respiratory rate and opisthotonus were evident during the physical examination. Cardiac auscultation revealed a left basilar, grade III/VI systolic murmur.

Oxidative stress in cows according to calving season: passive calf immunity and its relationship with colostrum quality.

This study details the relationship between maternal plasma oxidant-antioxidant enzymes with colostrum quality, serum gamma glutamyl transferase (GGT), immunoglobulin G (IgG) and IgM concentrations of calves in the different calving seasons. Holstein breed cows between two and eight lactations and their calves were enrolled in the study. Holstein cows calving in winter (n=45) and their calves (n=45) were assigned to the winter group, while cows calving in summer (n=45) and their calves (n=45) were assigned to the summer group.

MDA and GSH-Px Activity in Transition Dairy Cows Under Seasonal Variations and their Relationship with Reproductive Performance.

Introduction: The purpose of the current study was to evaluate the blood glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) and malondialdehyde (MDA) levels under seasonal variations in dairy cows during transition period, and to assess the relationship between chosen reproductive parameters, GSH-Px, and MDA.

Material And Methods: Holstein cows calving in January were assigned into winter group (n = 42), while cows calving in August were assigned into summer group (n = 42). Blood samples were collected from the jugular vein 21, 14, and 7 days before calving, at calving (0 day), and 7, 14, and 21 days after calving.

Correlation between Endoscopic and Histopathological Findings in Dogs with Chronic Gastritis.

Introduction: Chronic gastritis is a common diagnosis in dogs with signs of chronic vomiting. However, there is no data concerning endoscopic and histopathological agreement in dogs with chronic gastritis. Thus, a question should be raised whether taking gastroduodenal biopsies in dogs with chronic gastritis is necessary or not.

De novo interstitial deletion of 9q32-34.1 with mental retardation, developmental delay, epilepsy, and cortical dysplasia: a case report.

In this report we describe a 10 year-old female patient with interstitial deletion of 9q32-q34.1 associated with mental retardation, developmental delay, short stature, mild facial dysmorphism, epilepsy, abnormal EEG and brain MRI findings consistent with focal cortical dysplasia. Interstitial deletion of 9q associated with q32-q34 is found extremely rare.

Azathioprine-induced liver injury in a patient with multiple autoimmune syndrome.

Extraintestinal manifestations are frequent in patients with ulcerative colitis. They are most commonly associated with active bowel disease but can also occur prior to bowel disease or during a period of remission. The disease often requires long-term therapy.
