: We aimed to evaluate the correlation and agreement between the Systemic Coronary Risk Estimation 2 (SCORE2) and Predicting Risk of CVD EVENTs (PREVENT) 10-year ASCVD risk scores by incorporating computed tomographic (CT) data to assess differences between the scoring systems. : The PREVENT risk score was calculated for 171 patients, while the SCORE2 and SCORE2 Older Persons (OP) risk scores were calculated for 113 patients. Coronary artery calcium (CAC) scores were calculated, and the grading of coronary artery disease (CAD) was assessed according to these scores.

Aims: Right ventricular (RV) failure is one of the leading causes of death in patients with pulmonary hypertension (PH). Conventional echocardiographic parameters are not included in risk stratification and follow-up for prognostic assessment due to PH's diverse nature and the RV's complex geometry. RV outflow tract velocity time integral (RVOT VTI) is a simple, non-invasive estimate of pulmonary flow and an echocardiographic surrogate of RV stroke volume.

Myxofibrosarcoma (MFS) is a unique soft tissue (fibroblastic) sarcoma, characterized by malignant with a locally infiltrative behavior. In this case image, we aimed to report an uncommon/challenging scenario of MFS involving the scatic nerve in which the potential contribution of ultrasound examination has been touched upon.

Introduction: We aimed to determine the relationship between the dilatation of the heart chambers and the change in peritoneal membrane solute transfer characteristics (PMTC) in long-term peritoneal dialysis (PD) patients.

Methods: This is a retrospective, single-center study including the follow-up of maintenance PD patients. According to the changes in PMTC from baseline to the last visit, patients were divided into three groups; stable (n = 11), increased (n = 41), and decreased transporters (n = 35).

Spontaneous coronary artery dissection (SCAD) is an atypical cause of myocardial infarction, predominantly seen in women. Among various predisposing factors, genetic vasculopathies such as connective tissue diseases significantly contribute to SCAD. This report discusses a 36-year-old male diagnosed with vascular type Ehlers-Danlos syndrome following an anterior myocardial infarction and explores relevant literature.

: The aim of this study was to compare the effectiveness of pericapsular nerve group (PENG) and lumbar erector spinae plane (L-ESP) blocks, both administered with a high volume (40 mL) of local anesthetic (LA), for multimodal postoperative analgesia in patients undergoing hip surgery. : This was a prospective, double-blind, randomized study that included 75 adult patients who were divided into three equal groups: control, PENG, and L-ESP. The study compared pain intensity, morphine consumption, time to first morphine request, and postoperative satisfaction between the control group, which received standard multimodal analgesia, and the block groups, which received PENG or L-ESP block in addition to multimodal analgesia.

Septic sacroiliitis is one of the infectious causes of sacroiliitis and it is seen rarely. In current literature, cases of septic sacroiliitis caused by several microorganisms have been reported so far. This case report presents the first case of septic sacroiliitis caused by Staphylococcus xylosus and also complicated with an abscess formation.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study evaluated 304 premenopausal women with oligomenorrhoea to determine the prevalence of Cushing's syndrome (CS) among them, featuring various hormonal and measurement tests to identify underlying issues.
  • - Results indicated that polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) was the most common cause of oligomenorrhoea (81.57%), with CS found in 2.30% of patients, all of whom had Cushing's disease (CD), some without typical symptoms.
  • - The findings suggest that CS can be present even without classic symptoms in women with oligomenorrhoea, recommending that routine screening for CS should be part of their evaluation process.

Objectives: Artificial intelligence-based robotic systems are increasingly used in medical laboratories. This study aimed to test the performance of KANKA (Labenko), a stand-alone, artificial intelligence-based robot that performs sorting and preanalytical quality control of blood tubes.

Methods: KANKA is designed to perform preanalytical quality control with respect to error control and preanalytical sorting of blood tubes.

Background: Acute exacerbations of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (AE-IPF) increases mortality risk, but which factors increase mortality is unknown. We aimed to perform a prognostic review of factors associated with mortality in patients with IPF.

Study Design: and methods: We searched MEDLINE, EMBASE, and CINAHL for studies that reported on the association between any prognostic factor and AE-IPF.

Proper blood collection and timely analysis are vital steps for reliable results. This study aims to compare potassium(K), calcium(Ca), and phosphorus(P) concentrations in serum separator tube (SST), lithium heparin tube without gel (LiH), and lithium heparin tube with a barrier (Barricor)tubes in essential thrombocytosis(ET) patients. Additionally, we assessed short-term stability of these analytes at room temperature.

Objective: Right ventricular (RV) dilatation and dysfunction are usually present in heart transplant (HTx) patients and worsened with residual pulmonary hypertension (PH). We aimed to determine the ability of different echocardiographic modalities to evaluate RV function in comparison with cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) and their relations with pulmonary hemodynamics in HTx patients.

Methods: A total of 62 data sets [echocardiographic, hemodynamic, and CMR] were acquired from 35 HTx patients.
