Background: Robotic assisted surgery has grown considerably since its introduction in the 1980's with more than 6500 da Vinci robots installed worldwide and over 55,000 surgeons trained to use these machines. Nurses play a major role in the successful completion of robotic surgery; however, minimal research has been conducted in the literature to date surrounding robotic assisted surgery nurses' experiences working in the perioperative department and beyond.

The words that children learn change over time in predictable ways. The first words that infants acquire are generally ones that are both frequent and highly imageable. Older infants also learn words that are more abstract and some that are less common.

Hospitality workers and gentrification processes: Elective belonging and reflexive complicity.

This paper contributes new understandings of the dynamics and processes of gentrification that contribute to wider transformations of class relations. We argue that the hospitality sector, specifically the tastes, dispositions and practices of young hospitality workers, are central in how gentrification processes currently function. We extend concepts of elective and selective belonging, and reflexive complicity, to analyse how young hospitality workers understand their own labouring practices as contributing to gentrification in their local areas.

Long-term drought promotes invasive species by reducing wildfire severity.

Anthropogenic climate change has increased the frequency of drought, wildfire, and invasions of non-native species. Although high-severity fires linked to drought can inhibit recovery of native vegetation in forested ecosystems, it remains unclear how drought impacts the recovery of other plant communities following wildfire. We leveraged an existing rainfall manipulation experiment to test the hypothesis that reduced precipitation, fuel load, and fire severity convert plant community composition from native shrubs to invasive grasses in a Southern California coastal sage scrub system.

Laparoscopic versus open appendicectomy performed by adult general surgeons in pre-teenage years children: a single-centre experience.

Introduction: The utilisation of laparoscopic appendicectomy (LA) in children remains contentious despite the well-recognised advantages of laparoscopic surgery. The purpose of this study was to compare intraoperative and postoperative outcomes in LA and open appendicectomy (OA) when performed by adult general surgeons outside specialist paediatric practice in younger children.

Methods: A retrospective review of all patients under the age of 13 who underwent LA for suspected appendicitis over a two-year period was conducted.

Objective: Segmental mandibular defects can occur due to various etiologies, including trauma and tumor resection. Reconstruction should provide adequate support for subsequent dental rehabilitation and allow for proper occlusion. Nonvascularized bone grafts have been used for reconstructing mandibular defects in cases where vascularized grafts were not feasible.

Changing test answers: A scoping review.

Objective: Various disciplines at all education levels worldwide are steeped in contradictions regarding the value of answer changing on exams. Therefore, the purpose of this scoping review was to explore the current evidence related to answer changing at the graduate and undergraduate level with a focus on nursing education.

Design: The scoping review was guided by Arksey and O'Malley's scoping review framework.

Gratitude improves parents' well-being and family functioning.

Parents are inundated with suggestions to improve their relationships with their children and promote child development, but improving caregiver well-being is often overlooked despite being considered one of the most important methods to promote healthy child development. Drawing on the robust literature on the emotional and relationship benefits of gratitude, we present two studies demonstrating the advantages of gratitude for parents' well-being and family functioning. First, in a 7-day daily experience study conducted in 2018 ( = 270), daily gratitude predicted greater well-being and family functioning, controlling for daily happiness, coder-rated care difficulty, and sociodemographics.

A systematic review and meta-analysis of the use of methylene blue to improve the lymph node harvest in rectal cancer surgery.

Background: Methylene blue staining of the resected specimen has been described as an alternative to the conventional palpation and visual inspection method to improve lymph node harvest. This meta-analysis evaluates the usefulness of this technique in surgery for rectal cancer, particularly after neoadjuvant therapy.

Methods: Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) comparing lymph node harvest in methylene blue-stained rectal specimens to those of unstained specimens were identified from the Medline, Embase, and Cochrane databases.

Sexual Experiences and Attachment Styles in Online and Offline Dating Contexts.

Nearly 50% of adults under age 29 report using some form of online dating to find sexual partners or romantic relationships. Limited evidence suggests online and offline dating behaviors and experiences can vary. We aimed to expand understanding these differences by examining how attachment styles are associated with online and offline search for partners and emotional responses to sexual experiences.
