Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) impacts the health of women worldwide. It is a condition consisting of dysfunctional cystic ovaries resulting in hormonal imbalance. Many women have symptoms such as infertility, increased production of androgens, and insulin resistance.

Objective: The objective of this study was to compare Doppler blood pressure (DBP) measurements between blood pressure cuffs (BPCs) with and without a secondary fastener (tape) in healthy nonanesthetized large-breed dogs.

Animals: 28 healthy dogs.

Methods: Superficial palmar venous arch DBP measurements with and without tape on the BPC were performed in lateral recumbency with Doppler ultrasound.

Background: Revefenacin, a once-daily, nebulized, long-acting muscarinic antagonist approved in the United States for the maintenance of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), significantly improves lung function and quality of life versus placebo in patients with moderate-to-very severe COPD. Comorbid anxiety and/or depression may alter patients' symptom perception and response to bronchodilators. The impact of revefenacin in patients with COPD with comorbid anxiety and/or depression has not been previously investigated.

Guidance on Mitigating the Risk of Transmitting Respiratory Infections During Nebulization by the COPD Foundation Nebulizer Consortium.

Background: Nebulizers are used commonly for inhaled drug delivery. Because they deliver medication through aerosol generation, clarification is needed on what constitutes safe aerosol delivery in infectious respiratory disease settings. The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted the importance of understanding the safety and potential risks of aerosol-generating procedures.

Point-of-care global coagulation assay parameters in normal dogs and dogs with primary immune-mediated hemolytic anemia.

Validation of a Dose Assessment Method to be Used in 18F FDG Loose Contamination Exercises.

Radiological emergency response may require responders to operate in contaminated environments. To provide more realistic training to these individuals, it has been proposed to disperse low amounts of short-lived radioactive material in simulated emergency scenarios. To demonstrate the applicability and safety of such activities, a limited exercise was conducted where 18F was sprayed in a small area and survey activities were executed.

Uncertainty Analysis of Consequence Management Data Products.

An interlaboratory effort has developed a probabilistic framework to characterize uncertainty in data products that are developed by the US Department of Energy Consequence Management Program in support of the Federal Radiological Monitoring and Assessment Center. The purpose of this paper is to provide an overview of the probability distributions of input variables and the statistical methods used to propagate and quantify the overall uncertainty of the derived response levels that are used as contours on data products due to the uncertainty in input parameters. Uncertainty analysis results are also presented for several study scenarios.

A preliminary dose assessment for an emergency response exercise using unsealed radioactive sources was performed based on conservative calculation methods. The assessment was broken into four parts: activation, distribution, exercise participation, and post-exercise monitoring. The computer code MicroShield was used to determine external exposure from the source during and after distribution.

Age-related Behavioural Change in Cornelia de Lange and Cri du Chat Syndromes: A Seven Year Follow-up Study.

Age-related behavioural change in Cornelia de Lange syndrome is poorly understood. We report a 7 year follow-up study of adaptive behaviour, autism spectrum disorder symptomatology, language skills and behavioural characteristics in 30 individuals with Cornelia de Lange syndrome, compared with 18 individuals with Cri du Chat syndrome. The proportion of individuals with Cornelia de Lange syndrome meeting criteria for autism spectrum disorder on the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule increased, although patterns of change were complex.

Radionuclide Selection for Emergency Response Exercise at Disaster City® Using Unsealed Radioactive Contamination.

The Department of Nuclear Engineering at Texas A&M University currently supports exercises at Disaster City, a mock community used for emergency response training that features full-scale, collapsible structures designed to simulate various levels of disaster and wreckage. Emergency response exercises can be enhanced by using unsealed radioactive sources to simulate a more realistic response environment following an incident involving the dispersion of radioactive material. Limited exercises are performed worldwide using unsealed radioactive sources, and most of that information is not publicly available.

Discovery of the Antitumor Effects of a Porphyrazine Diol (Pz 285) in MDA-MB-231 Breast Tumor Xenograft Models in Mice.

A series of porphyrazines (Pzs) with chiral bis-acetal moieties in the β-pyrrole positions ((2,3)-2,3-dimethyl-2,3-dimethoxy-1,4-diox-2-ene) have been synthesized and screened as antitumor agents in MDA-MB-231 breast tumor cells . The lead was further tested in a mouse tumor xenograft model with Td-tomato-luc2 fluorescent breast tumor cells (MDA-MB-231 LM24 Her2+) that are highly metastatic to the lungs. shows marked antitumor effects , with treated mice exhibiting longer median survival that we attribute to smaller primary tumor regrowth after resection and less occurrence of metastasis when compared to vehicle control groups.

The adoption of electronic health records (EHRs) has adversely affected the ability of organ procurement organizations (OPOs) to perform their federally mandated function of honoring the donation decisions of families and donors who have signed the registry. The difficulties gaining access to potential donor medical record has meant that assessment, evaluation, and management of brain dead organ donors has become much more difficult. Delays can occur that can lead to potential recipients not receiving life-saving organs.

Contrasting age related changes in autism spectrum disorder phenomenology in Cornelia de Lange, Fragile X, and Cri du Chat syndromes: Results from a 2.5 year follow-up.

Little is known about the way in which the characteristics of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) develop and manifest across the age span in individuals with genetic syndromes. In this study we present findings from a two and a half year follow-up of the characteristics associated with ASD in three syndromes: Cornelia de Lange (CdLS), Fragile X (FXS), and Cri du Chat (CdCS). Parents and carers of 251 individuals (CdLS=67, CdCS=42, and FXS=142) completed the Social Communication Questionnaire (SCQ) at Time 1 (T1) and again two and a half years later (T2).

Vaccine effectiveness against laboratory-confirmed influenza in infants: A matched case control study.

Influenza is a common and potentially serious infection in infants. Previous studies of influenza vaccine in this age group have reported widely varying estimates of vaccine effectiveness, and few have used laboratory confirmation of influenza diagnoses. We evaluated the effectiveness of 1 and 2 doses of the trivalent inactivated vaccine against laboratory-confirmed influenza in children aged 6 to 23 months within the Kaiser Permanente Northern California Medical Care Program for the 2003-2004, 2004-2005 and 2005-2006 influenza seasons.
