The clinical presentation for ear complaints can often overlap with other common pediatric conditions. As such, the differential diagnosis for ear complaints is broad, warranting a thorough history and targeted physical examination. Optimizing the approach for a definitive ear examination is essential when evaluating a pediatric patient with an ear concern.

Purpose: The goal of this study was to assess the value of TVDT in predicting disease-specific survival (DSS) in patients with hereditary and sporadic MTC.
Gene expression can be highly plastic in response to environmental variation. However, we know little about how expression plasticity is shaped by natural selection and evolves in wild and domesticated species. We used genotypic selection analysis to characterize selection on drought-induced plasticity of over 7,500 leaf transcripts of 118 rice accessions (genotypes) from different environmental conditions grown in a field experiment.

However, preclinical data suggest that T4 can also act as a growth stimulus for cancer, but there is no clinical evidence supporting this claim.
Objective: We analyzed the association between free T4 (FT4) and progression-free survival (PFS) in patients with IR/HR-DTC.
High-activity radioactive iodine (RAI) therapy for metastatic thyroid cancer (TC) requires isolation to minimize radiation exposure to third parties, thus posing challenges for patients needing hands-on care. There are limited data on the approach to high-activity RAI treatment in paraplegic patients. We report a state-of-the-art multidisciplinary approach to the management of bedbound patients, covering necessary radiation safety measures that lead to radiation exposure levels as low as reasonably achievable.

Objective: To establish whether prehospital zone 1 (supraceliac) partial resuscitative endovascular balloon occlusion of the aorta (Z1 P-REBOA) can be achieved in the resuscitation of adult trauma patients at risk of cardiac arrest and death due to exsanguination.
Objective: To examine the emotional distress situation among hospitality industry workers and their access to and use of health care including telehealth services during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Methods: A survey was administered on the Qualtrics platform both in English and Spanish from November 18, 2020, to November 30, 2020, through the Culinary Workers Union in Nevada. A total of 1182 union members participated in the survey, of whom 892 completed the survey.
Cardiovascular complications related to cancer therapies are broad and variable in onset. These complications are the leading cause of non-cancer related morbidity and mortality in childhood cancer survivors and can also impact ongoing cancer treatment. Despite this understanding, dedicated cardio-oncology programs are lacking in pediatric cardiology.

Methods: A total of 368 endodontic cases (n = 184) in anterior and premolar teeth, completed by dental students at the University of Michigan School of Dentistry from 2013 to 2022, were used for the study. The groups were evaluated by two calibrated clinicians, observing the incidence of clinical errors: file separations, over-instrumentation, ledges and transportations.
Context: The identification of parathyroid tumor(s) in patients with persistent/recurrent primary hyperparathyroidism (PHPT) is critical for a successful reoperative surgery. If noninvasive studies (ultrasound, computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, sestamibi) fail to conclusively localize the tumor, invasive procedures (arteriography and selective venous sampling) are performed.
Objective: To describe our experience with invasive studies for parathyroid tumor localization and provide follow-up data on selective arterial hypocalcemic stimulation with central venous sampling, a technique developed at our center.
Objective: Air medical transportation (AMT) of patients plays a critical role in the prehospital care of the ill patient. Despite its importance, there is no requirement in emergency medicine training programs to have direct experience or education on the topic, and data detailing current AMT experiences across programs are limited.
Methods: A survey detailing program characteristics, AMT experience characteristics, and curriculum factors relating to AMT experience was sent to all 275 credentialed emergency medicine residency training programs in the United States.
Importance: Bleeding is the most common cause of preventable death after trauma.
Objective: To determine the effectiveness of resuscitative endovascular balloon occlusion of the aorta (REBOA) when used in the emergency department along with standard care vs standard care alone on mortality in trauma patients with exsanguinating hemorrhage.
Design, Setting, And Participants: Pragmatic, bayesian, randomized clinical trial conducted at 16 major trauma centers in the UK.
Background: Studies found heterogeneity of asthma prevalence among Hispanic subgroups using survey data but addressed under-diagnosis issues due to limited access to health care and diagnosis bias.
Objectives: To examine heterogeneity by language in health care utilization for asthma among Hispanic subgroups.
Research Design: A retrospective, longitudinal cohort study of Medi-Cal claims data (2018-2019) using logistic regression to estimate the odds ratio of health care utilization for asthma.
The prominent flavonoids apigenin and chrysin have been demonstrated to have systemic benefits. Our previous work was first to establish the impact of apigenin and chrysin on cellular transcriptome. In the current study, we have revealed the ability of apigenin and chrysin to alter the cellular metabolome based on our untargeted metabolomics.

Marshallese and Hispanic workers account for much of the poultry and meatpacking workforce and were disproportionately affected. The Arkansas Department of Health held worksite vaccination clinics and administered 1794 doses.

Because of their potent anti-inflammatory property and ability to curb the cytokines, they are administered as lifesaving steroids. This property is not only made use of in the cardiovascular system but also in other major organ systems and networks.

The 24-h urinary iodine excretion (UIE) is utilized to evaluate the iodine-depleted status. The aim of this study was to test the association between UIE and progression-free survival (PFS).

Consumer advocates and physicians have called for these products to be effectively banned, but manufacturers assert warning labels would sufficiently mitigate risk.
Methods: Subjects from Injuries, Morbidity, and Parental Attitudes Concerning Tiny High-powered Magnets (IMPACT of Magnets), a retrospective, multicenter study of children with high-powered magnet exposures (ie, ingestion or bodily insertion), were contacted.
Gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (GEP-NETs) may occur in 30% to 90% of patients with multiple endocrine neoplasia type 1 (MEN1). However, only 1% of GEP-NETs are grade 3 (G3). Given the rarity of these aggressive tumors, treatment of advanced G3 GEP-NETs in MEN1 is based on the treatment guidelines for sporadic GEP-NETs.

An unmet need exists for the development of novel imaging technologies to characterize osteoporosis.
Purpose: The purpose of our study is to investigate the feasibility of X-ray-induced acoustic computed tomography (XACT) imaging for osteoporosis detection.
We explore whether the frequency of post-hospital discharge transitional care calls affects patients' adherence to their discharge plans. We reviewed 1,000 call records of a post-discharge transitional care program run by a large U.S.

In some granulomas, immune activity promotes bacterial clearance, but in others, bacteria persist and grow. We identified correlates of bacterial control in cynomolgus macaque lung granulomas by co-registering longitudinal positron emission tomography and computed tomography imaging, single-cell RNA sequencing, and measures of bacterial clearance.
