Shift work can cause circadian misalignment, which often results in sleeping problems and has been associated with immune dysfunction. To better understand the impact of shift work on a primary immune response to vaccination, we compared severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2)-specific humoral and cellular immune responses after one injection of the messenger RNA (mRNA)-1273 vaccine between day workers (n = 24) and night shift workers (n = 21). In addition, duration and quality of sleep were assessed for a period of 7 days around the time of vaccination using actigraphy and daily sleep diaries, and their relationship with immunogenicity of mRNA-1273 vaccination was studied.

: The purpose of this study is to evaluate the impact of maternal ischemia-modified albumin (IMA) levels on pregnancy-related complications, fetal growth, and development over time. : The prospective longitudinal and single-center study included 43 pregnant women ages 18 to 43. Routine pregnancy follow-up began at the first antenatal examination for all pregnant women before 14 weeks gestation, with IMA levels measured during the first, second, and third trimesters.

Previous studies evaluated immune responses in patients with hepatic CE, however none had assessed Th1, Th2 and Th17 levels simultaneously in pulmonary CE patients. This study aimed to fill this gap in literature by using flow cytometry analysis.

Background: Amifostine is a powerful antioxidant that is one of the documented three chemo-radio prototectants recommended for clinical use. There is no data exploring amifostine in prevention of acute pericardial damage. We aimed to investigate whether amifostine has protective effect against acute pericardial injury due to radiotherapy in an experimental rat model.

Methods: Among the 412 thoracic trauma cases, 62 cases (15.04%) who developed late-term complications which constituted the main theme of this study were evaluated in terms of age, gender, the type of trauma, the cause of trauma, thorax, and concomitant organ pathologies that developed when the trauma first occurred, the late-term complications, and the treatment methods for them while considering mortality.

Background: Invasive solid papillary carcinomas (ISPC) are rare malignant neoplasms in the classification of WHO 2019 breast tumors.
Aims: We aimed to investigate the correlations between programmed cell death ligand-1 (PD-L1) expression status of tumor and immune cells and clinicopathological parameters by molecular classification of this rare morphological subtype. This study will contribute to the literature about the PD-L1 expression state of ISPCs for the first time.
This study aimed to investigate clinical characteristics of hepatocellular carcinoma and the outcome of our aggressive treatment policy which follows the Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer (BCLC) guidance. In this study, we retrospectively analyzed data of 102 patients who were treated for hepatocellular carcinoma between January 2007 and October 2016. Male predominance (81.

Background: This study aims to assess the prolidase activity, nitric oxide levels, and oxidative status in patients with esophageal squamous cell carcinoma.
Methods: The study included 30 patients with esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (11 males, 19 females; mean age 61±3 years; range, 28 to 77 years) and 30 healthy controls (10 males, 20 females; mean age 58±5 years; range, 31 to 73 years). Serum prolidase activity, total antioxidant capacity, total oxidant status, and nitric oxide levels were measured.
The aim of this study was to determine the curative effects of high-dose (100 mg/kg) melatonin on peripheral nerve injury. Forty male Wistar albino rats were randomized into four groups as sham, vehicle, melatonin, and ischemia and their right sciatic nerves were exposed. The process was terminated in the sham group.

Its most common causes are inflammatory diseases and malignancies. Here, we present a 12-year-old girl diagnosed with systemic amyloidosis and Hodgkin lymphoma (HL) who was also previously diagnosed with familial Mediterranean fever (FMF).

Objective: Destroyed lung is whole lung destruction secondary to chronic or recurrent lung infections. This clinical condition can result in irreversible changes in the lung parenchyma. In this study, we aimed to evaluate patients undergoing pneumonectomy with a diagnosis of lung destruction in terms of surgical technique, post-operative morbidity and mortality, and long-term outcomes.

Introduction: The effective control of malignant pleural effusion (MPE) is of paramount importance in the treatment of patients with disseminated cancer. In this study, we compared two different approaches (early pleurodesis versus late pleurodesis) to MPE.
Material And Methods: Patients (188 cases) whose primary tumor type was known and who were confirmed to have MPE, were included in the study and were separated into two groups.
Objective: To compare the frequency of oesophageal foreign bodies during the month of Eid-ul-Adha with other months.
Methods: This retrospective study was conducted at YüzüncüYil University Hospital, Van, Turkey, during 2012-16, and comprised individuals who were treated for bone and/or meat fragments lodged in the oesophagus. The number of hospital admissions with diagnosis of oesophageal foreign bodies during Eid-ul-Adha episodes were extricated and compares with similar date for the other months.
Objective: Elevated serum Mac 2-binding protein (M2BP) levels have been observed in some cancers. As far as we know, its importance has not been investigated in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC). The investigated problem of this study was to evaluate whether there was a difference between ESCC patients and the control group in terms of M2BP.

Objective: Human sirtuin-3, a protein involved in the mediation of tumors, has been shown to be present in malignancies. The goal of this study was to measure serum sirtuin-3 levels in esophageal squamous cancer cells and to determine whether sirtuin-3 may possess predictive value in advanced cases of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC).
Patients And Methods: A total of 130 ESCC patients and 50 healthy control subjects participated to the study.
Purpose: To investigate the possible relationship between the nuclear morphometric characteristics (nuclear perimeter, roundness, nuclear area, and nuclear shape) and BRAF mutation status in papillary thyroid carcinoma cases with a prior diagnosis of undetermined cytology.
Materials And Methods: Total thyroidectomy specimens obtained from 48 patients with papillary thyroid carcinoma with a prior diagnosis of undetermined cytology were included. Morphometric analysis under light microscopy included measurements of the perimeter, shape factor, nuclear area, and roundness of thyrocyte nuclei from the cytological smear preparations.
