Although COVID-19 is primarily known as a respiratory disease, there is growing evidence of neurological complications, such as ischemic stroke, in infected individuals. This study aims to evaluate the impact of COVID-19 on acute ischemic stroke (AIS) using radiomic features extracted from brain MR images and machine learning methods. This retrospective study included MRI data from 57 patients diagnosed with AIS who presented to the Department of Radiology at Hacettepe University Hospital between March 2020 and September 2021.

Background: Radiotherapy plays a vital role in the management of high-grade gliomas. However, the radio resistance of glioma cells limits the effect of radiation and drives recurrence inside the irradiated tumor volume leading to poor outcomes for patients.

Methods: High-grade glioma cell radioresistance significantly contributes to radiotherapy failure, highlighting the importance of identifying predictive biomarkers for radioresistance.

In this study, phytochemical and biological activity studies supported by docking were carried out on a species of the genus Glaucium, a repository of isoquinoline alkaloids. The GC-MS (Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry) method is used to characterize the isoquinoline alkaloids of Glaucium flavum Crantz. (Papaveraceae).

An incidental diagnosis of an unusually located echinococcus alveolaris.

Hydatid cyst disease is a zoonotic infection caused by the genus Echinococcus. Hydatid cysts are usually located in the liver or lungs whereas the brain is an unusual location. A 45-year-old male patient was diagnosed with an intracranial mass suggesting a metastasis in the frontal region shown in the cranial computed tomography (CT) scan following a cranial trauma.

An Investigation into the Relationship of SUR-1TRPM4 Receptor with Peritumoral Edema in High-Grade Glial Tumors.

Aim: To investigate the presence of Sur1-Trpm4 receptors in high-grade glial tumors, and their relationship with edema volumes in preoperative magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) sequences.

Material And Methods: MRI sections were extracted from T1-weighted (T1W) and T2-weighted (T2W) sequences and fluidattenuated inversion recovery (FLAIR) images. After that, T1W 3D magnetization-prepared rapid gradient echo (MP-RAGE) sequences were taken with and without contrast medium.

Characteristics of the Patients Aged Less than 40 Years Operated for a Renal Mass.

The incidence of renal cell cancer (RCC) is low in individuals aged less than 40 years; however several studies have shown this increasing trend over the years. Hereditary syndromes are associated with RCC and are more frequently observed in early-onset cases. In this study, we investigated the characteristics of the patients, aged less than 40 years, who were operated for a renal mass with the suspicion of RCC.

CD47 expression in urothelial carcinoma and its correlation with histopathological findings.

Background: The incidence of bladder cancers (BCs) is increasing day by day in both males and females with increased smoking. New treatment protocols are required due to the long follow-up times and high recurrence rates. CD47 (integrin-associated protein) is a membrane receptor that is effective in normal and pathophysiological events such as apoptosis, proliferation, adhesion, and immunity.

Violent Experiences Suffered by Pre-Hospital Healthcare Workers During the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Objective: This work was carried out to determine the causes of violence against Prehospital Emergency Medical Services Personnel (PHEMSP) who performed their duties without any special security measures during the COVID-19 pandemic, and who were subjected to violence because of their work.

Method: The approach of this research is in accordance with case study design, which is concerned with the examination of unique cases. For this study, a volunteer announcement was made on social media for PHEMSPs from 3 different branches (Emergency Medical Technicians or EMTs, paramedics, and doctors) who had been actively working in ambulances during the transportation of COVID-19 patients throughout the pandemic, and who had declared that they were subjected to verbal abuse or physical violence.

Evaluation of the Effect of Mindfulness-Based Training on the Quality of Work-Life and Motivations of Nurses Working During the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Objective: This study aims to determine the effect of mindfulness stress training given to nurses working during the COVID-19 pandemic period on the quality of work-life and motivation of nurses.

Materials And Methods: The research was carried out as a pre-test and post-test control group quasi-experimental model from nurses working in a university hospital in eastern Turkey between September 2021 and December 2021. The study population consisted of 850 nurses working in the hospital.

Histopathological View of Benign Essential Blepharospasm: Orbicularis Oculi Hormone Receptor Levels.

Objectives: Benign essential blepharospasm (BEB) is a focal dystonia characterized by involuntary contractions of the orbicularis oculi and periocular muscles. We aimed to investigate the effects of muscle receptor levels on the etiopathogenesis of blepharospasm by evaluating the orbicularis oculi estrogen receptor (ER) and androgen receptor (AR) levels.

Methods: Four blepharospasm patients (2 females and 2 males) who underwent upper lid blepharoplasty and/or orbicularis myomectomy and 4 healthy cases (2 females, 2 males) that had upper lid blepharoplasty were included.

Structure-based virtual screening (SBVS) was applied to predict lead compounds for the allosteric inhibition of epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) by screening the library of chemical compounds prepared from the e-molecules chemical database. The library of chemical compounds consisting of 133,083 ligands was composed by evaluating the chemical and physical properties of e-molecules chemicals. The prepared library was screened by CCDC Gold software in the allosteric binding site of EGFRT790M using the library and virtual screening default parameters to filter out, respectively.

Bile Leakage From the Luschka Duct After Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy and Cholecystectomy: A Case Report.

Bile leakage may develop as a result of traumatic or iatrogenic injuries of bile ducts during laparoscopic cholecystectomy (LC). The frequency of Luschka duct injuries during LC is extremely rare. In this case, we present a case of bile leakage due to Luschka duct injury during sleeve gastrectomy (SG) and LC.

Evaluation of trabecular changes following advancement genioplasty combined with or without bilateral sagittal split osteotomy by fractal analysis: a retrospective cohort study.

Background: It is aimed to investigate whether there was a difference in radiographic changes in the operational areas between genioplasty alone and genioplasty combined with mandibular advancement and to evaluate the fractal dimension (FD) to assess trabecular changes after genioplasty surgery.

Methods: Preoperative-(T0) and postoperative-(T1) panoramic radiographs of 26 patients without any complications who underwent genioplasty combined with bilateral sagittal osteotomy and mandibular advancement or genioplasty alone were selected. In the panoramic radiographs of both groups, the genial segment, mandibular angulus, and surgical osteotomy line were examined using FD.

Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy in Monozygotic Twins: Report of the First Case.

Obesity is an epidemic disease that is believed to link to other pathologies as well as life-threatening cardiovascular pathology. Here we report a case of monozygotic twins who successfully lost weight following laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy at the end of the 18-month follow-up period. We aimed to determine the factors affecting the weight loss outcome after sleeve gastrectomy in monozygotic twins.

Can CXCL13 be a prognostic marker in clear cell renal cell carcinoma?

Background: CXCL13, B-lymphocyte chemoattractant, has been associated with many diseases and cancers. One of the malignancies that CXCL13 has been investigated is clear cell renal cell carcinomas which are the most common subtype of renal cancers.

Aims And Objectives: The aim of this study is to evaluate the immunohistochemical staining patterns of CXCL13 in clear cell renal cell carcinomas and to determine its relationship with pathological tumor stage, risk factors, and prognostic parameters.
