Adenocarcinoma ex-goblet carcinoid (ADA ex-GCC) is a rare and aggressive subtype of goblet cell carcinoid, a distinct tumor of the appendix characterized by both neuroendocrine and glandular differentiation. Patients often present with chronic abdominal pain or symptoms of acute appendicitis. Right hemicolectomy is the primary mode of treatment, and prophylactic salpingo-oophorectomy and hysterectomy is recommended in post-menopausal women due to the tumor's propensity of transcoelemic spread, especially to the ovaries.

A systematic literature search of randomized controlled trials for ERP for OCD yielded 21 studies, representing 1400 participants. Attrition data were extracted for individual treatment conditions.

Method: In a cross-sectional mail survey, 126 occupational therapists completed the EPIC scale and a questionnaire to provide data for validity testing. Seventy-nine occupational therapists (63%) completed a second EPIC scale a median of 24 days later.
Background: Use of social networking services (SNS) is on the rise. While many users sign in for personal purposes, it is not uncommon for professionals to connect over SNSs with clients, students, and patients.
Methods: The present study used an experimental approach to examine how medical doctors' SNS profiles impacted potential patients' impressions of professionalism.
The rights of adolescents and young people in international law and agreements have evolved significantly from a focus on protection to a recognition of "evolving capacities" and decision-making ability. Unclear policies and regulations and variations in actual practice may leave providers with little clarity on how to support adolescent decision-making and instead create unintended barriers. This study in Mexico City in 2009 explored whether regulations and clinical attitudes and practice were supporting or hindering the access of adolescent girls aged 12-17 to information regarding abortion and to abortion services.

Little research has been conducted on pregnancy decisionmaking among young people in this region. This study examines the role of peers, partners, family members, and health-care providers in adolescents' decisionmaking regarding pregnancy continuation or termination in Mexico City shortly after abortion was legalized in 2007.

Design: Phase I bicenter, randomized, parallel-group, controlled, partially blinded trial.
Setting: Third-level referral academic centers, including reproductive biology and genetics laboratories.
Background And Objectives: Low-grade non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL) remains incurable with standard dose chemotherapy. Nucleoside analogs such as fludarabine are effective, but even when used as initial therapy, the median duration of remission ranges from only 16 to 24 months. Interferon (IFN) is also active and has been investigated both by incorporating it into the chemotherapy regimen and/or as maintenance therapy, where it may prolong remission.

Design: Prospective study.
Setting: Reproductive biology group, academic unit of pediatrics, obstetrics, and gynecology.
Objective: To evaluate the potential of Multifluor fluorescence in situ hybridization (M-FISH) for karyotyping the human oocyte and first polar body.
Design: Prospective case study.
Setting: Research laboratories, university hospital.
Background: The histologic diagnosis of atypical ductal hyperplasia (ADH) has been reported as having a high rate of malignancy, either ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) or invasive ductal carcinoma (IDC). We reviewed our surgical group's experience with stereotactic core-needle biopsies (SCNB), specifically looking at the follow-up of ADH.
Methods: From November 1994 through July 1997 our group performed 539 SCNB.
Background: Treatment of esophageal cancer has been primarily palliative. Recent studies have shown that preoperative combination chemo- and radiation therapy increases the effectiveness of surgical excision.
Patients And Methods: Beginning in 1990, 29 patients in the Spokane area were treated with preoperative chemo- and radiation therapy.
A baseline study of referrals by letter to a department of conservative dentistry staffed purely by honorary consultants was conducted for one year. Distinct differences were found between the majority of patients referred from general practice and those referred from other sources. Principal reasons for referral were problems of tooth replacement, appearance, endodontics and tooth wear.

Dual photon absorptiometry was used to measure bone mineral density at the lumbar spine in all subjects, and at three areas of the hip in eight of the subjects. There was no significant change in bone mineral density at the lumbar spine after one year.
