The aim of this paper was to report long term patient reported functional outcomes, health related quality of life (QoL) scores and rates of complications in order to fully counsel the patient on likely outcomes and set realistic post-operative expectations for the patient.
Methods: We conducted a retrospective review of 20 patients with distal tibial intra-articular fractures that presented to our institution between September 2014 and September 2020.
Primary ciliary dyskinesia (PCD) is an incurable, rare, inherited, chronic condition. Treatment includes the regular clearing of airway mucus, aggressive treatment of infections and management of hearing loss. Caregiver burden has not been explored, hence we interviewed 18 mothers and 6 fathers of children under 6 years to understand the impact of diagnostic testing and implications of a positive diagnosis.

Emerging clinical data from the current COVID-19 pandemic suggests that ~ 40% of COVID-19 patients develop neurological symptoms attributed to viral encephalitis while in COVID long haulers chronic neuro-inflammation and neuronal damage result in a syndrome described as Neuro-COVID. We hypothesize that SAR-COV2 induces mitochondrial dysfunction and activation of the mitochondrial-dependent intrinsic apoptotic pathway, resulting in microglial and neuronal apoptosis. The goal of our study was to determine the effect of SARS-COV2 on mitochondrial biogenesis and to monitor cell apoptosis in human microglia non-invasively in real time using Raman spectroscopy, providing a unique spatio-temporal information on mitochondrial function in live cells.

Methods: Eighty-seven families were randomized to 1 of 3 treatments: pedometer plus education (PE), pedometer (P), or control (C). Participants in the PE and P groups wore pedometers and were encouraged to walk 10,000 steps daily for 12 weeks.
The Wisconsin Collaborative for Healthcare Quality demonstrated that seven hospitals, six multi-specialty physician groups, four health plans and nine employers from across the state can agree upon goals and work collaboratively to achieve them. Together they created: A public/private partnership to define common measures of health care quality that make sense to purchasers/consumers.
