Purpose: Cancer survivors can experience symptoms such as fatigue, pain and distress that persist for many months following treatment. These enduring symptoms often impact on participation in self-care activities, returning to school and/or work, and leisure and social activities. Self-management support is increasingly recognised as a core aspect of cancer survivorship care to reduce the impact of persistent symptoms.

Here we highlight the difficulties in classification of those cases which arise in adult patients with unusual clinical features.
Results: We present three cases with morphological and immunohistochemical features consistent with large B-cell lymphoma arising in adult patients, which were found to have isolated IRF4 rearrangements on FISH analysis.
Objectives: To examine the feasibility of implementing a 10-week exercise-based cancer rehabilitation programme in a national cancer centre.
Design: A single-arm prospective feasibility study.
Setting: An outpatient physiotherapy department.
Importance: There remains an unmet need to improve clinical outcomes in patients with recurrent or metastatic squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck (R/M SCCHN).
Objective: To evaluate clinical benefit of first-line nivolumab plus ipilimumab vs nivolumab alone in patients with R/M SCCHN.
Design, Setting, And Participants: The CheckMate 714, double-blind, phase 2 randomized clinical trial was conducted at 83 sites in 21 countries between October 20, 2016, and January 23, 2019.
Background: Oncology patients have had to make many changes to minimise their exposure to COVID-19, causing stress. Despite education, some patients still do not recognise potential COVID symptoms.
Aims: We assessed patient knowledge of COVID, and its impact on their behaviours, concerns, and healthcare experience.
As both the number of cancer survivors and the length of survival time are increasing, long-term health issues related to cancer and its treatment are becoming more prevalent. Research suggests that exercise can mitigate several negative health consequences in cancer survivors and improve physical function and quality of life. Multi-modal exercise interventions have been proposed as a cornerstone for survivorship care.

Cell-of-origin classification in DLBCL has identified activated B cell (ABC) and germinal center B cell (GCB) as two major subtypes. Patients with the ABC subtype show reduced overall survival with standard therapies.

Reported insomnia prevalence internationally among new/recently diagnosed patients with cancer varies from 30.

Aims: This study aims to evaluate differences in survival for AYA patients when compared with paediatric patients treated in Ireland over a 20-year time period.
Methods: This study compares relative survival for patients diagnosed in Ireland at ages 0-15 (paediatric group) and 16-24 (AYA group) during 1994-2013, followed to the end of 2014, for cancers defined by the International Classification of Childhood Cancer (ICCC) (Third Edition) group or subgroup.
Lymphoma diagnosis is complex, requiring a wide array of adjunctive tests to reach accurate diagnoses. We retrospectively examined the rates of concordance between referral and review lymphoma diagnoses on cases referred to St James's Hospital, Dublin for multidisciplinary team review between 2013 and 2016. Frequency and cost of adjunctive diagnostic tests performed were also analysed.

There are few published studies on the effectiveness of treating hepatic metastases from medullary thyroid carcinoma with chemoembolisation and none to our knowledge utilising bland particle transarterial embolisation (TAE). Here we describe the management of multifocal hepatic metastases from medullary thyroid cancer in a 39-year-old woman who underwent bland particle TAE with a biochemical and radiological response and discuss the potential for a wider scope of clinical application for bland TAE in hepatic metastases.

We present the case of a 78-year-old man presenting with a 3-month history of weakness, malaise, and increasing dyspnea. A lymph node excised from the posterior triangle of the neck revealed the coexistence of 2 morphologically and phenotypically distinct lymphoid neoplasms consistent with a blastoid variant of mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) occurring in composite with classical Hodgkin lymphoma (cHL), mixed cellularity subtype.

Serial reproductive histories were obtained and hormonal assays were performed on serum samples before, at the end of treatment and 4-18 months later.

In B-cell lymphomas, this microenvironment is intriguing in that it plays critical roles in the regulation of tumor cell survival and proliferation, fostering immune escape as well as the development of treatment resistance. The purpose of this review is to summarize the proceedings of the Second Annual Summit on the Immune Microenvironment in Hematologic Malignancies that took place on September 11-12, 2014 in Dublin, Ireland.

In addition to lymph nodes, MCL often involves blood, bone marrow, and spleen and is incurable for most patients. Recently, the Bruton tyrosine kinase (BTK) inhibitor ibrutinib demonstrated important clinical activity in MCL.

Investigating mechanisms underlying acquired severe HDL deficiency in noncritically ill patients ("disappearing HDL syndrome") could provide new insights into HDL metabolism.
Objective: To determine the cause of low HDL-C in patients with severe acquired HDL deficiency.
Background: Burkitt's lymphoma is an aggressive B-cell lymphoma that occurs in children and adults and is largely curable with the use of intensive and toxic chemotherapy. Current treatments are less effective and have more severe side effects in adults and patients with immunodeficiency than in children.
Methods: We studied low-intensity treatment consisting of infused etoposide, doxorubicin, and cyclophosphamide with vincristine, prednisone, and rituximab (EPOCH-R) in patients with untreated Burkitt's lymphoma.

While diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) was once considered to be a single disease entity, recent biological insights have demonstrated that it can be divided up into at least three molecular subtypes. Gene expression profiling has revealed that DLBCL consists of a germinal center B-cell like subtype (GCB), an activated B-cell like subtype (ABC) and a primary mediastinal B-cell lymphoma subtype (PMBL). These three entities arise from different stages of B-cell differentiation and are characterized by distinct mechanisms of oncogenic activation.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFBackground: Primary mediastinal B-cell lymphoma is a distinct subtype of diffuse large-B-cell lymphoma that is closely related to nodular sclerosing Hodgkin's lymphoma. Patients are usually young and present with large mediastinal masses. There is no standard treatment, but the inadequacy of immunochemotherapy alone has resulted in routine consolidation with mediastinal radiotherapy, which has potentially serious late effects.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFAlthough primary mediastinal large B-cell lymphoma (PMBL) and classic Hodgkin lymphoma of the nodular sclerosis type (CHL-NS) are distinct diseases, they share several clinical characteristics and biologic features. Given that, it is not surprising that there exist mediastinal lymphomas that do not fit well into either category but have clinical and morphologic features overlapping and transitional between PMBL and CHL-NS. The term mediastinal gray zone lymphoma (MGZL) has been used for these tumors, which are included in the World Health Organization classification as "B-cell lymphoma, unclassifiable, with features intermediate between diffuse large B-cell lymphoma and classic Hodgkin lymphoma.
