The Rives-Stoppa (RS) procedure is a gold standard treatment of midline abdominal wall hernias. Comparability of pain control and outcomes to the enhanced-view totally extraperitoneal prosthetic (eTEP) repair remain unclear. This paper presents a systematic study of the electrical resistivity of different steel fibre-reinforced concretes with fibre contents from 0 kg/m to 80 kg/m in order to identify possible effects of interactions among concrete composition and fibre type and content regarding electrical resistivity. Based on a literature review, four parameters, w/c ratio, binder content, ground granulated blast-furnace slag (GGBS) and fineness of cement, which show a significant influence on the electrical resistivity of plain concrete, were identified, and their influence on the electrical resistivity as well as interaction effects were investigated. The results of the experiments highlight that the addition of fibres leads to a significant decrease in electrical resistivity, independent of all additional parameters of the concrete composition.

Purpose: Microwave ablation (MWA) is an accepted technique in the multimodal treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and colorectal liver metastases (CRLM). Study endpoints were to evaluate the local efficacy of surgical MWA in selected patients with oligonodular disease without the combination of liver resection to allow a clear interpretation of the follow-up imaging and compare it to the results on percutaneous MWA available in the literature.

Methods: Consecutive MWA-only procedures performed between May 2013 and May 2018 for HCC and CRLM with free-hand ultrasound guidance were identified.

Alzheimer's disease is characterized by the progressive accumulation of amyloid-beta protein (Abeta) in senile plaques and cerebral amyloid angiopathy. It is not known whether the plaque growth is a continuous and homogeneous process or whether some plaques have a more rapid evolution. As plaques grow by the deposition of Abeta, we used an in situ binding technique to analyze the deposition of fluorescein-conjugated and biotinylated Abeta1 40 and Abeta1-42 in cryosections of brains from Alzheimer's disease patients.
