As observed with taniborbactam, the combination of xeruborbactam (XER) with β-lactams, namely, ceftazidime, cefepime and meropenem, led to significantly decreased MIC values for a wide range of B1-type MBL-producing , including most recombinant strains producing NDM, VIM, IMP, GIM-1, and DIM-1 enzymes.

Here, we showed that TAN exhibited an overall excellent activity against B1 MBLs including most NDM- and VIM-like as well as SPM-1, GIM-1, and DIM-1 enzymes, but not against SIM-1. Noteworthy, VIM-1-like enzymes (particularly VIM-83) were less inhibited by TAN than VIM-2-like.

His clinical condition deteriorated for 37 days, with fever, skin lesions, and diarrhea before going to the infectious diseases department, where his severe, protracted infection was treated with tecovirimat for 14 days. His condition rapidly improved, and the skin lesions decreased, as did the MPXV loads, with no adverse events.

Ecological theory of community dynamics under environmental forcing predicts an early replacement of slowly replicating and weakly competitive "canary" species by slowly replicating but strongly competitive "keystone" species. Further forcing leads to the eventual collapse of the keystone species as they are replaced by weakly competitive but fast-replicating "weedy" species in a critical transition to a significantly different state.
