Background: Despite the significance and prevalence of acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), its detection remains highly variable and inconsistent. In this work, we aim to develop an algorithm (ARDSFlag) to automate the diagnosis of ARDS based on the Berlin definition. To better understand the green tide phenomenon impacting French coastline and give guidance to stakeholders to elaborate effective mitigation plan, an extensive survey has been deployed on Brittany hot spots. Based on 18 years monitoring database, the objectives of this work were to investigate the inter-and-intra annual evolutions of Ulva beaching, and to assess the parameters driving green tide annual renewal. The yearly cumulated area of Ulva mat on the Brittany coast averaged 2,42 ± 0,84 ha, of which 55 ± 12 % % was reported within Saint Brieuc-Binic Bay, with a maximal beaching generally observed in July.

The deposition of thin layers of polymer/ceramic on a lithium surface to produce a strong barrier against dendrites was demonstrated. Different forms (needle, sphere, rod) and types of ceramic (AlO, MgBO) were tested and polymer/ceramic interlayers of a few micrometers (4 μm minimum) between the lithium and the PEO-based solid polymer electrolyte (SPE) were deposited. Interlayers with high amounts of ceramic up to 85 wt% were successfully coated on the surface of lithium foil.

Li-10 wt % Mg alloy (Li-10 Mg) is used as an anode material for a solid-state battery with excellent electrochemical performance and no evidence of dendrite formation during cycling. Thermal treatment of Li metal during manufacturing improves the interfacial contact between a Li metal electrode and solid electrolyte to achieve an all solid-state battery with increased performance. To understand the properties of the alloy passivation layer, this paper presents the first direct observation of its evolution at elevated temperatures (up to 325°C) by in situ scanning electron microscopy.

Introduction: Research investigating HIV, neurocognition and ageing is well developed using neuropsychometric or other quantitative approaches; however, little is known about individuals' subjective experiences. The purpose of this article is to explore the experiences of men aged 50 and older who self-identify as having HIV-associated neurocognitive challenges. In particular, this study uses the Episodic Disability Framework (EDF) to explore participants' perceptions regarding: 1) symptoms/impairments, difficulties with day-to-day activities, challenges with social inclusion and uncertainty; 2) ageing as related to their HIV-associated neurocognitive challenges, and 3) the episodic nature of their HIV-associated neurocognitive challenges.

The goal of this study was to describe specifically the clinical characteristics of migraine with aura inpatients over the age of 50. During 1 year, three neurologists working in a tertiary headache center included all patients aged 50 years and over presenting migraine with aura in a prospective registry. Fifty-seven patients with migraine with aura aged 50 years and over were interviewed using a standardized questionnaire during a consultation.

We present time-resolved photoluminescence measurements on two series of oligo-p-phenylenevinylene materials that self-assemble into supramolecular nanostructures with thermotropic reversibility in dodecane. One set of derivatives form chiral helical stacks, while the second set form less organized "frustrated" stacks. Here we study the effects of supramolecular organization on the resonance energy transfer rates.

We present time-resolved photoluminescence measurements on two series of oligo-p-phenylenevinylene (OPV) materials that are functionalized with quadruple hydrogen-bonding groups. These form supramolecular assemblies with thermotropic reversibility. The morphology of the assemblies depends on the way that the oligomers are functionalized; monofunctionalized OPVs (MOPVs) form chiral, helical stacks while bifunctionalized OPVs (BOPVs) form less organized structures.

We study exciton migration in low molecular weight poly[3-(2,5-dioctylphenyl)thiophene] in dilute solution by means of ultrafast spectroscopy and Monte Carlo simulations of resonance energy transfer using the line-dipole Forster approach. The model includes the build-up of polymer chains, site-selective exciton generation, and diffusion through incoherent energy transfer. Time-resolved, ensemble-averaged experimental data are reproduced, namely photoluminescence spectral migration and stimulated emission anisotropy decays measured by streak camera and femtosecond transient absorption spectroscopy under site-selective excitation conditions.

Control of intermolecular interactions is crucial to the exploitation of molecular semiconductors for both organic electronics and the viable manipulation and incorporation of single molecules into nano-engineered devices. Here we explore the properties of a class of materials that are engineered at a supramolecular level by threading a conjugated macromolecule, such as poly(para-phenylene), poly(4,4'-diphenylene vinylene) or polyfluorene through alpha- or beta-cyclodextrin rings, so as to reduce intermolecular interactions and solid-state packing effects that red-shift and partially quench the luminescence. Our approach preserves the fundamental semiconducting properties of the conjugated wires, and is effective at both increasing the photoluminescence efficiency and blue-shifting the emission of the conjugated cores, in the solid state, while still allowing charge-transport.
