Atomoxetine is a drug widely used for the treatment of the attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) with reduced risk of adverse motor reactions and chemical dependence. However, the pharmacokinetics characteristics as well as the toxicological risk of atomoxetine deserves further investigation to comprehensively analyze the therapeutic and safety aspects of this drug. This study aimed to predict the physicochemical profile and medicinal chemistry characteristics of atomoxetine, alongside its pharmacokinetic properties-namely absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion-as well as its toxicology (ADMET) potential through the utilization of web-based in silico tools.

In this computational study, we advanced the understanding of the antigenic properties of the NADC-34-like isolate of the Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome Virus (PRRSV), named YC-2020, relevant in veterinary pathology. We utilized sequence comparison analyses of the M and N proteins, comparing them with those of NADC34, identifying substantial amino acid homology that allowed us to highlight conserved epitopes and crucial variants. Through the application of Clustal Omega for multiple sequence alignment and platforms like Vaxijen and AllerTOP for predicting antigenic and allergenic potential, our analyses revealed important insights into the conservation and variation of epitopes essential for the development of effective diagnostic tools and vaccines.

Background: Behavioral and neurochemical alterations associated with toxoplasmosis may be influenced by the persistence of tissue cysts and activation of an immune response in the brain of Toxoplasma gondii-infected hosts. The cerebral extracellular matrix is organised as perineuronal nets (PNNs) that are both released and ensheath by some neurons and glial cells. There is evidences to suggest that PNNs impairment is a pathophysiological mechanism associated with neuropsychiatric conditions.

Congenital toxoplasmosis is a parasitic disease caused by Toxoplasma gondii, an obligate intracellular parasite which can cause fetal death/abortion and can induce damage in the brain and eyes of the infected babies. The environmental and genetic factors associated with T. gondii and the maternal immune response, drive part of the pathogenesis of congenital toxoplasmosis.

This study evaluated if infection and the drug-associated infection modifies the brain radiopharmaceutical Ethylene Cystine Diethylester Dihydrochloride (Tc-ECD) biodistribution in mice. A total of 18 mice were divided into 3 groups. Control group (C) received distilled water and Tc-ECD; Infected group (I) received strain and Tc-ECD; Infected and Treated group (IT), in addition to infection, received association of Pyrimethamine and Sulfadiazine and Tc-ECD.
