This paper focuses on our research and intervention in health promotion with patients and communities affected by various infectious diseases, in the project Knowledge-Sharing Platform. This project is developed at the National Institute of Infectious Diseases Evandro Chagas in the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and promotes the continuing involvement of health researchers and professionals in the collaborative production of knowledge on health with patients and community groups and in their training as community health promoters. The new epidemic scenario created the demand for a space of dialogue and knowledge-sharing on the prevention of COVID-19 transmission.

The clinical and epidemiological characteristics, adverse events, treatment adherence and effectiveness of isoniazid chemoprophylaxis were analyzed in a cohort of 138 tuberculosis/HIV-coinfected patients. Objectives: In preparation for a phase III HIV vaccine trial, we report the results of men who have sex with men (MSM) cohort ('Projecto Rio').

Methods: HIV-negative MSM were followed 6-monthly over a 3-year period.

Results: High seroprevalence for sexually transmitted disease (HIV, syphilis and hepatitis B seropositivities of 24%, 29%, and 37%, respectively) was seen in the 1165 potential volunteers, and this seroprevalence showed significant differences according to HIV serologic status.
