Dental students' perceptions and educational impact of preclinical interactive videos compared and in combination with live demonstrations.

Objective: To study the utility of simulation videos with embedded quiz items compared and in combination with live hands-on demonstrations of dental procedures.

Methods: Thirty-three videos with embedded items were developed to help students understand the procedures they had to practice in the simulation laboratory. Videos were uploaded to the university LMS platform for students to watch and complete the embedded items as many times as they liked.

Impact of Faculty Development Workshops in Student-Centered Teaching Methodologies on Faculty Members' Teaching and Their Students' Perceptions.

The aim of this study was to assess, after one year, the impact of faculty development in teaching and learning skills focused on a learner-centered approach on faculty members' perceptions of and approaches to teaching and on their students' learning experiences and approaches. Before training (2014), all 176 faculty members at a dental school in Chile were invited to complete the Approaches to Teaching Inventory (ATI) to assess their teaching approaches (student- vs. teacher-focused).

Coronary heart disease and periodontitis -- a case control study in Chilean adults.

Objectives: To investigate the association between periodontal disease parameters and coronary ischemic disease among 30-50-year-old Chileans.

Material And Methods: Cases were 30-50-year-olds who were hospitalized in one of four Cardiologic Units in Santiago, Chile, for acute myocardial infarction, unstable angina or angina pectoris. Controls had undergone surgery due to gall bladder stones or abdominal hernia.
