Recovery of ergosterol from mushrooms via supercritical fluid extraction: A response surface methodology optimisation.

This work uses the response surface methodology to optimise ergosterol recovery from mushrooms by supercritical fluid extraction. The influence of pressure, temperature, co-solvent use, and solvent-to-mushroom mass ratio was evaluated on yield and extract composition. Considering temperature, pressure, and co-solvent volume percentage, predictive models were regressed for extraction yield, ergosterol purity in the recovered fractions, and ergosterol recovery.

Costs of topical treatment of pressure ulcer patients.

Objective: To evaluate the costs of a topical treatment of pressure ulcer (PU) patients in a hospital unit for treatment of chronic patients in 2014.

Method: This is an activity-based costing study. This method encompasses the identification, measurement and pricing of physical and human resources consumed for dressings.
