Objectives: To evaluate the role of salvage local treatment in managing recurrent PCa following FT, focusing on oncological and functional outcomes.

Methods: A systematic review and meta-analysis were performed following the PRISMA framework. A comprehensive literature search using the PubMed/MEDLINE and EMBASE databases was performed until July 2023.

Introduction: We aimed to evaluate the role of remote proctoring during the initial training phases of a robotics curriculum using surgical robot skills simulator exercises.

Materials And Methods: Prospective randomized study comprising 36 urology residents and junior staff urologists without previous robotic training. Group 1 (G1) performed exercises without any assistance or support, group 2 (G2) received support from in-person proctor, and group 3 (G3) from a remote proctor through a telementoring system.

Introduction: Recent data suggest that robotic platform has become the most accessible minimal invasive surgery even for surgeons without previous training in laparoscopy. Laparoscopic partial nephrectomy (LPN) is a well-stablished procedure, however, with high level of complexity and long learning curve that limit its use.

Objective: To describe safety, efficiency and learning curve of a single surgeon without previous experience in LPN to reach "TRIFECTA" at robot-assisted partial nephrectomy (RAPN).

Purpose: We compared cancer detection rates in patients who underwent magnetic resonance imaging cognitive guided micro-ultrasound biopsy vs robotic ultrasound magnetic resonance imaging fusion biopsy for prostate cancer.

Materials And Methods: Among 269 targeted biopsy procedures 222 men underwent robotic ultrasound magnetic resonance imaging fusion biopsy and 47 micro-ultrasound biopsy. Robotic ultrasound magnetic resonance imaging fusion biopsy was performed using the transperineal Artemis™ device while micro-ultrasound biopsy was performed transrectally with the high resolution ExactVu™ system.

Objective: High-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) Focal therapy appears to have encouraging oncologic outcomes and urinary and erectile function. The control of the treated area can be done using contrast enhanced ultrasound with sulfur hexafluoride (Sonovue®) at the end of the procedure. We report oncological and functional outcomes in HIFU focal therapy (FT) for prostate cancer (PCa) management using sonovue.

Purpose: We report oncologic outcomes in patients treated with focal therapy for prostate cancer.

Materials And Methods: We retrospectively analyzed a single institution cohort of men with localized prostate cancer who received focal therapy using high intensity focused ultrasound or cryotherapy from 2009 to 2018. Focal therapy was offered for low or intermediate risk disease (prostate specific antigen less than 20 ng/ml, Gleason score 7 or less and clinical stage T2b or less).

Kaposi sarcoma is an angioproliferative disorder that ranges from a single indolent skin lesion to respiratory and gastrointestinal/visceral involvement. Kaposi sarcoma is rare in non-immunosuppressed patients. Nineteen cases of penile Kaposi sarcoma in HIV-negative patients were reported in 2012.

Article Synopsis
  • - A systematic review examined the safety of low-dose aspirin use in patients undergoing robot-assisted radical prostatectomy (RARP), analyzing 767 studies to find five relevant ones involving 1,481 patients.
  • - Results showed no significant differences in overall and major complication rates, blood loss, or hospital stays between patients taking aspirin and those who were not, although the blood transfusion rate was slightly higher in the aspirin group.
  • - The conclusion indicates that using low-dose aspirin in the perioperative period does not increase surgical risks or complications, except for a marginal increase in blood transfusion rates.

Article Synopsis
  • The study examines the effectiveness of ultrasound-magnetic resonance imaging (US-MRI) fusion biopsy (FB) versus traditional transrectal ultrasound (TRUS) systematic random biopsies (SRB) in detecting prostate cancer.
  • A comparison of the Gleason upgrading (GU) rates showed that TRUS SRB had higher GU rates (31.5%) compared to US-MRI FB (16.4%), indicating that US-MRI FB may provide more accurate assessments.
  • The findings suggest that US-MRI FB enhances the accuracy of prostate cancer diagnosis and may lead to better treatment decisions, shown by reduced GU rates and improved concordance between biopsy results and final pathology.

Background: Hypofractionated (HRT) prostate radiation therapy has the potential to deliver a higher biologically effective dose over a shorter time compared with conventional fractionation (CRT). HRT, giving fewer fractions each with higher dose, might improve the therapeutic ratio, resource use and patient convenience but the toxicity is still controversial. Our objective was to compare the gastroinstestinal (GI) and genitourinary (GU) toxicity of HRT versus CRT.

Testicular neoplasms are uncommon tumors of childhood. These tumors comprise the germ cell tumors, and other tumors that may originate from histological testicular components, which are unrelated to the germinal lineage. Among the latter are the sex cord-stromal tumors (SCST), an important entity in newborns.

Objective: Urinary lithiasis is a common disease. The aim of the present study is to assess the knowledge regarding the diagnosis, treatment and recommendations given to patients with ureteral colic by professionals of an academic hospital.

Materials And Methods: Sixty-five physicians were interviewed about previous experience with guidelines regarding ureteral colic and how they manage patients with ureteral colic in regards to diagnosis, treatment and the information provided to the patients.

Sarcoma of the prostate and sarcomatoid carcinoma of the prostate are rare conditions, both characterized by a poor prognosis. Sarcomatoid carcinoma of the prostate typically arises from the evolution of an underlying adenocarcinoma, occasionally featuring heterologous elements, bulky disease being possible but rare. In contrast, sarcoma of the prostate derives from non-epithelial mesenchymal components of the prostatic stroma, shows rapid growth, and frequently presents as massive pelvic tumors obstructing the urinary tract at the time of diagnosis.
