Without a specification of relevant details of the environment, the time evolution of a reduced density matrix is therefore typically unpredictable, even if the dynamics of the full density matrix are deterministic. With this in mind, we investigate a two-level open quantum system using a framework of quantum state diffusion.

This study utilised an international cross-sectional online survey involving N = 1070 women over 18 years old (M = 48.9 years old) with self-reported diagnosed or suspected lipoedema.

We report the draft genome of a rare instance of carbapenem, fosfomycin and colistin resistant E. coli phylogroup-A, isolated as part of routine screening of a human patient in a clinical setting in Ireland.

Biased signaling by mutant EGFR underlies dependence on PKCα in lung adenocarcinoma.

Activating mutations in the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) promote ligand-independent signaling; however, the mechanisms involved are poorly defined, and it is unknown whether this generates specific vulnerabilities. We previously observed robust expression of protein kinase Cα (PKCα) in lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) with mutant EGFR (mEGFR), which, unlike the activation of PKCα, is independent of mEGFR activity. Here, we identify a critical role for PKCα in anchorage-independent growth and survival of lung cancer cells with mEGFR.

Exploring the 'EarSwitch' concept: a novel ear based control method for assistive technology.

Background: Loss of communication with loved ones and carers is one of the most isolating and debilitating effects of many neurological disorders. Assistive technology (AT) supports individuals with communication, but the acceptability of AT solutions is highly variable. In this paper a novel ear based control method of AT, the concept of 'EarSwitch', is presented.

Structure and thermal stability of phosphorus-iodonium ylids.

Hypervalent iodine(III) reagents have become indispensable tools in organic synthesis, but gaps remain in the functionalities they can transfer. In this study, a fundamental understanding of the thermal stability of phosphorus-iodonium ylids is obtained through X-ray diffraction, differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). Insights into the structural factors affecting thermal stability and potential decomposition pathways will enable the future design and development of new reagents.

Children diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia (paediatric AML [pAML]) have limited treatment options and relapse rates due to chemoresistance and refractory disease are over 30%. Current treatment is cytotoxic and in itself has long-lasting harsh side effects. New, less toxic treatments are needed.

The Comprehensive Resilience-building psychosocial Intervention (CREST) for people with dementia in the community: a feasibility and acceptability study.

Background: A dementia diagnosis can lead to a decline in cognitive, social, and physical health, but people with dementia can live meaningful lives and participate actively in society with psychosocial support. This single-arm, non-randomised feasibility study explored the feasibility and acceptability of a Comprehensive REsilience-building psychoSocial intervenTion (CREST) for people with dementia, their caregivers, General Practitioners (GPs), and the public.

Methods: Nine people with dementia and their primary caregivers living in the community (n = 9 dyads) completed the CREST intervention which had three components (cognitive stimulation therapy [CST], physical exercise, and dementia education).

The variability in interpretation of colonic codes in CT colonography reporting: a single-centre experience.

Aim: Although standardised summary codes to classify colonic findings (C-codes) on computed tomography colonography (CTC) have been used for several years, there is no clear guidance on how these codes should be interpreted. The aims of this study were to (1) establish CTC C-code demographics and reporting practice at our hospital and (2) determine the agreement between CTC reporters when using C-codes.

Materials And Methods: Waiving ethical approval, this online questionnaire study invited all radiologists, reporting radiographers and radiology trainees who reported CTC at our hospital between 22/02/2023 and 05/03/2023.

Barriers to healthcare and negative healthcare experiences are frequently reported by transgender people, which is known to be compounded by intersectional issues including racism. The present study aimed to explore the experiences of trans people of color accessing a national Gender Service in the United Kingdom, to better understand the facilitators and barriers to positive healthcare experiences. Six transgender people of color attended two separate focus groups.

Background: Sleep disturbances are common and distressing for people with dementia and their families. Non-pharmacological interventions should be first-line management, avoiding harmful pharmacological side-effects, but there is none with known effectiveness. We aimed to establish whether DREAMS START, a multicomponent intervention, reduced sleep disturbance in people with dementia living at home compared with usual care.

The MDM12 gene encoding the cytosolic subunit of ERMES is coexpressed with COQ10, which encodes the putative CoQ chaperone Coq10, via a shared bidirectional promoter.
