Objective: Antenatal corticosteroids given prior to preterm deliveries reduce the risk of adverse neonatal outcomes. However, steroid administration in the setting of a viral respiratory infection can worsen maternal outcomes. Therefore, the decision to administer corticosteroids must balance the neonatal benefits with the potential harm to the mother if she is infected with the novel coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Information about retinal function can also be extracted from OCT images, but is under-studied, with literature examples often employing challenging protocols or requiring specialized hardware. The first goal of this study was to verify that functional retinal imaging was feasible with a commercially-available SD-OCT device and a clinically practical protocol.

Currently in the setting of the COVID-19 pandemic, it is unclear whether antenatal corticosteroids for infant benefit outweigh the potential harm to a pregnant woman with a COVID-19 infection.
Objective: To determine at which gestational ages administering antenatal corticosteroids is the optimal management strategy for hospitalized women with preterm prelabor rupture of membranes (PPROM) who have a COVID-19 infection.
Objective: To evaluate the cost effectiveness of three different approaches to the care of neonates born at 22 weeks of gestation: universal resuscitation, selective resuscitation, or no resuscitation.
Methods: We constructed a decision-analytic model using TreeAge to compare the outcomes of death and survival with and without neurodevelopmental impairment in a theoretical cohort of 5,176 neonates (an estimate of the annual number of deliveries that occur in the 22nd week of gestation in the United States). We took a societal perspective using a lifetime horizon, and all costs were expressed in 2017 U.
Most metazoans undergo dynamic, circadian-regulated changes in behavior and physiology. Currently, it is unknown how circadian-regulated behavior impacts immunity against infection. Two broad categories of defense against bacterial infection are resistance, control of microbial growth, and tolerance, control of the pathogenic effects of infection.
