Progress for ocular AAV gene therapy has been hindered by AAV-induced inflammation, limiting dose escalation and long-term efficacy. Broadly, the extent of inflammatory responses alters with age and sex, yet these factors are poorly represented in pre-clinical development of ocular AAV gene therapies. Here, we combined clinical imaging, flow cytometry and bulk-sequencing of sorted microglia to interrogate the longitudinal inflammatory response following intravitreal delivery of AAV2 in young (3-month), middle aged (9-month) and old (18-month) Cx3cr1-creER:R26tdTomato+/- mice of both sexes.

We aim to describe HPV vaccine hesitancy (VH) among parents of children using a previously validated vaccine hesitancy scale (VHS) for the HPV vaccine and to reduce HPV VH among parents through direct HPV vaccine education.
Methods: Our study sampled parents of patients aged 9-18 years who attended an outpatient pediatric clinic.
Objectives This study assesses the screen rate and prevalence of postpartum pelvic floor disorders and sexual dysfunction (PFDs/SD) within the first year of delivery. Methods This is a retrospective review of postpartum women seen in a university clinic who delivered at the associated hospital and had postpartum visits from June 1, 2020, to April 15, 2022. Charts were reviewed from delivery to one year postpartum.

Previous reports have shown the effectiveness of amphiphilic coating systems based on poly(dimethylsiloxane) (PDMS) against such marine foulers. Recent studies on biofouling mechanisms have also demonstrated acidic microenvironments in biofilms and stronger adhesion at low-pH conditions.

Icing has been seen as an economic and safety hazard due to its threats to aviation, power generation, offshore platforms, etc., where passive icephobic surfaces with a surface texturing design have the potential to address this problem. However, the intrinsic icephobic principles associated with the surface textures, energy, elasticity, and hybrid effects are still unclear.

Background: Disease-modifying therapies (DMTs) for Alzheimer's disease (AD) have early evidence of efficacy. Widespread delivery of DMTs will require major service reconfiguration. Treatment pathways will need to include triaging for eligibility, regular infusions and baseline and follow-up MRI scanning.

She had undergone suction dilation and curettage three weeks prior and received a diagnosis of complete molar pregnancy. During her most recent acute presentation, an emergency laparotomy revealed a full-thickness fundal uterine rupture in a region of newly identified arteriovenous malformation.

Hypothesis: Ice mitigation has received increasing attention due to the severe safety and economic threats of icing hazards to modern industries. Slippery icephobic surface is a potential ice mitigation approach due to its ultra-low ice adhesion strength, great humidity resistance, and effective delay of ice nucleation. However, this approach currently has limited practical applications because of serious liquid depletion in the icing/de-icing process.

While being extensively tested for their performance in biomedical, membrane, and, to a lesser extent, marine environments, few studies have investigated how the molecular design of the zwitterion may enhance its performance. Furthermore, while theories of zwitterion antifouling mechanisms exist for molecular-scale foulant species (e.

While there have been many reports on fouling-release properties of amphiphilic surfaces, the offered understanding is often limited. Hence, this work is focused on further understanding of the amphiphilic surfaces.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFLarge regions of prokaryotic genomes are currently without any annotation, in part due to well-established limitations of annotation tools. For example, it is routine for genes using alternative start codons to be misreported or completely omitted. Therefore, we present StORF-Reporter, a tool that takes an annotated genome and returns regions that may contain missing CDS genes from unannotated regions.

Shared HPV vaccination decision-making among adolescents and parents is an important determinant of vaccination uptake. We performed a scoping review to identify studies that used parent-adolescent dyads in HPV vaccination research.

Here we identified interleukin-1 receptor-associated kinase (IRAK)-M as a key immunoregulator in retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) that declines with age. Rare genetic variants of IRAK-M increased the likelihood of AMD.

In the first stage of production, the two respective precursor amine terpolymers containing (2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-4-piperidyl methacrylate) units (PEGMEMA--PTMPM--PDMSMA) were synthesized by atom transfer radical polymerization using various comonomer ratios and two initiators: alkyl halide and fluoroalkyl halide. In the second stage, these were selectively oxidized to introduce nitroxide radical functionalities.

This work is focused on further tuning the amphiphilic character of a previously developed amphiphilic siloxane-polyurethane (SiPU) coating by varying the amount of PDMS and PEG in the base system. Furthermore, surface-modifying amphiphilic additives (SMAAs) were incorporated into these amphiphilic FR SiPU coatings in varying amounts.

The proposed lenses use evenly-spaced concentric rings, each having an air-filled polymer shell construction, defining concentric water-filled channels. Numerical simulations and experiments have shown that a plane wave can be focused, and that the amplification can be boosted by Fabry-Pérot resonances within the water channels with an appropriate choice of the lens thickness.

This hinders the discovery of new genomic information as it results in predictions being biased towards existing knowledge. To date, users have lacked a systematic and replicable approach to identify the strengths and weaknesses of any CDS prediction tool and allow them to choose the right tool for their analysis.

However, the influence of the content of the hydrophobic component in zwitterionic coatings on the interfacial molecular reorganization dynamics and the anti-fouling performance is not well understood. Therefore, coatings of amphiphilic copolymers of sulfobetaine methacrylate 3-[N-2'-(methacryloyloxy)ethyl-N,N-dimethyl]-ammonio propane-1-sulfonate (SPE) are prepared which contain increasing amounts of hydrophobic n-butyl methacrylate (BMA).
