Comparison of outcomes for fixed and weight-based four-factor prothrombin complex concentrate dosing regimens.

Objectives: Although fixed dose regimens using four-factor prothrombin complex concentrate (4F-PCC) are more widely accepted, using a 'one size fits all' approach remains an area of uncertainty. The primary objective of this study was to compare percentages of haemostasis between fixed dose and weight-based dose 4F-PCC regimens for multiple bleed types and anticoagulants. Secondary objectives compared differences in the time to administration and in-hospital mortality.

Characterisation of depressive symptoms in young children with and without attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.

Depressive symptoms and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) are prevalent and commonly co-occur in childhood. To assist with early identification of depression in children with ADHD, we aimed to: (1) use factor analysis to determine whether the construct of depression is measured consistently in those with and without ADHD; and (2) determine whether overall depressive symptoms and specific depressive symptoms were elevated in children with ADHD relative to controls. Participants comprised a community-based sample of 179 children with ADHD (51% Combined presentation, 35% Inattentive presentation) and 212 non-ADHD controls aged 6-8 years.

The Impact on Family Functioning of Social Media Use by Depressed Adolescents: A Qualitative Analysis of the Family Options Study.

Background: Adolescent depression is a prevalent mental health problem, which can have a major impact on family cohesion. In such circumstances, excessive use of the Internet by adolescents may exacerbate family conflict and lack of cohesion. The current study aims to explore these patterns within an intervention study for depressed adolescents.

Vital pathways for hospital librarians: present and future roles.

Objectives: The research objectives were to (1) describe the current and future roles of hospital librarians and the challenges they face and (2) find evidence supporting the hypothesis that librarians are essential to hospitals in achieving the organizations' mission-critical goals.

Method: The authors used results from a previous research study that identified the five organizational mission-critical goals important to hospital administrators and then searched the literature and solicited examples from hospital librarians to describe the librarian's role in helping hospitals achieve these goals.

Results: The literature supports the hypothesis that hospital librarians play important roles in the success of the hospital.
