Objective: Cancer presents a significant health challenge, particularly within culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) populations. Religious, spiritual, and personal beliefs regarding illness may mitigate its psychological and physical impacts, varying with CALD status. This study aims to assess illness perceptions in Australian cancer patients from both CALD and Anglo-Australian backgrounds and to explore the associations between spiritual wellbeing and illness perceptions within these groups.

It is a complex test with many limitations and pitfalls yet there is limited evidence in the literature to support best practice. This study investigated the impact of drying down time and temperature on the recovery of 16 key analytes from solvent extracts.

Early life growth patterns may provide a useful target for primordial prevention; however, research is lacking. Therefore, this study aimed to identify distinct body mass index (BMI) trajectories during the first year of life and to assess their associations with psychosocial outcomes in preadolescence (9-13 years).

We investigated associations between BMI trajectories from 0 to 18 years and mental health outcomes in emerging adulthood.
Methods: Data were obtained from 434 participants in the Melbourne Atopy Cohort Study (MACS).
Background: Despite recent evidence demonstrating iron and folate supplementation reduces the risk of low birth weight and preterm births, synthesis of the evidence is not sufficient to understand their impacts in Africa.
Method: MEDLINE, PsycINFO, Embase, Scopus, CHINAL, Web of Science, Cochrane databases, and Google Scholar were searched for the published and grey literature. Either iron-only, folate-only, or iron-folic acid (IFA) oral supplementation during pregnancy was the primary exposure/intervention.
Background: Iron and folate deficiency are prevalent in pregnant women in Africa. However, limited research exists on the differential effect of oral iron-only, folate-only, or Iron Folic Acid (IFA) supplementation on adverse pregnancy and infant outcomes. This systematic review addresses this gap, focusing on studies conducted in Africa with limited healthcare access.

While recent findings show that iron and folate supplementation can lower the risk of adverse birth outcomes and childhood mortality, our understanding of its impact in Africa remains incomplete due to insufficient evidence. This protocol outlines the systematic review steps to investigate the impact of oral iron and folate supplementation during pregnancy on adverse birth outcomes, neonatal mortality and infant mortality in Africa.

Patients may only be investigated once, and therefore, understanding the preanalytical factors affecting the reliability of results is crucial.

Using a mixed-method design, 179 patients were recruited from the Smoking Cessation outpatient clinic of Ankara Numune Training and Research Hospital between May 2016 and May 2017. Quantitative data were collected via questionnaires or from patient files and qualitative data were obtained via 5 focus group interviews with 28 patients who relapsed to smoking following treatment.

This review focuses on the possible factors that are associated with the transition from preschool wheezing to childhood asthma and highlights the significance of early-life environmental exposures during pregnancy and the first 6 months of life in shaping allergies and asthma. We observed a scarcity of studies investigating this subgroup, with most focusing on wheezing trajectories.

Methods: MEDLINE, PsychInfo, Embase, CINAHL, and Scopus were searched on June 6, 2022, to identify studies that investigated the association between childhood weight status (age ≤18 years) and outcomes of depression and/or anxiety in adulthood (age ≥19 years). Study quality was assessed using the Newcastle-Ottawa Scale and results were narratively synthesized.
Background/objective: Obesity is a risk factor for multimorbidity, including depression and possibly anxiety. However, it is currently unclear how patterns of change in BMI over the life course differentially influence the magnitude in risk of depression and anxiety in mid-adulthood. We aimed to examine associations between BMI trajectories from childhood to adulthood and the risk of depression and anxiety in middle age.

We systematically searched MEDLINE, PsychINFO, Embase, Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature, and Scopus for longitudinal studies assessing changes in weight status between childhood (≤18 years) and adulthood (≥19 years) in association with outcomes of depression and/or anxiety in adulthood. Study quality was assessed using a modified version of the Newcastle-Ottawa Scale, and data were narratively synthesized.

Recently, Azemati and colleagues (2020) reported no association between junk food intake and MetS in Iranian children and adolescents aged 7-18 years; however, we have identified some methodological limitations in this study, which are important to consider when examining MetS risk, especially in samples of this age. In response, we have developed a letter to the editor detailing the issues associated with defining MetS in pediatric age groups and how pubertal maturation and visceral adipose tissue are important variables to assess.

This cross-sectional study aimed to investigate the association between SSB consumption and body fat in children aged 9-13 years and the potential modifying effect of children's sex and serum cortisol levels. A sample of 2665 Greek schoolchildren participated in the 'Healthy Growth Study', and anthropometric, body composition, dietary intake and serum cortisol data were assessed.

Findings, based on a survey of orthopaedic doctors and physiotherapists, indicate a lack of standardised clinical care pathways. This study will inform development of clinical audit mechanisms and health service development for this large and growing fracture population in both Ireland and internationally.

We have previously shown that serotonin type-3 (5-HT3) receptors mediate cholecystokinin (CCK)-induced satiation and that this effect is dependent on postoropharyngeal feedback. However, the independent contributions of gastric and intestinal feedback in 5-HT3 receptor mediation of suppression of food intake by CCK have not been determined. Using a sham-feeding preparation combined with intraduodenal sucrose infusion, we show that blockade of 5-HT3 receptors by ondansetron (1 mg/kg ip) had no effect on suppression of sham feeding by intraduodenal 15% sucrose infusion (4 ml/10 min), CCK (2 microg/kg ip) administration, or the combination of the two treatments.

Such tools, however, capture different clinical phenomena of insight. So far, there is no indication as to which phenomenon of insight might be the most useful or predictive (e.
