Herpes simplex virus (HSV) in humans and pseudorabies virus (PRV) in pigs are both alphaherpesviruses. Plasmacytoid dendritic cells (pDCs) make part of the peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) and are specialized in producing large amounts of antiviral type I interferon (IFN-I). IFN-I production by PBMCs in response to both HSV-1 and PRV can be virtually exclusively attributed to pDCs.

Axenic dietary restriction (ADR) is highly effective in extending lifespan of Caenorhabditis elegans, but its effects on healthspan improvement are less well characterized. Using transmission electron microscopy, morphometric analyses, and functional assays, we found ADR can preserve tissue ultrastructure, including the cuticle, epidermis, and intestinal lumen, and reduce age-associated pathologies like gonad degeneration, uterine tumor clusters, pharyngeal deterioration, and intestinal atrophy. However, there was no notable improvement in behavioral and functional metrics.

Methods And Results: Clinical characteristics, reperfusion therapy modalities, COVID-19 status and in-hospital mortality of consecutive AMI patients who were admitted in a regional AMI network were recorded during one year starting in March 2020 and were compared with the year before. Methods: Bleeding and thrombotic complications (stroke and myocardial infarction) up to 3 months after TEER with mitraclip were evaluated in 322 consecutive pts with an indication for OACs.

Purpose: Little is known about whether burnout can be stopped at an emerging stage. To develop this knowledge, we focus on line managers' perspectives and responses when an employee who seems to be heading for burnout is still at work.
Methods: We interviewed 17 line managers working in the educational and health care sectors, who had been confronted with the sickness absence of at least one employee due to burnout in the past.
Aim: Recent guidelines recommend the use of a short 0-1h high sensitive cardiac troponin (hs-cTn) algorithm in patients presenting with chest pain at the emergency department (ED). This retrospective observational study evaluates the safety and effectiveness of the new 0-1h hs-cTn I protocol in comparison with the standard 0-3h cTn I protocol for the diagnosis of acute myocardial infarction (AMI).
Methods: A total of two times 100 consecutive chest pain patients presenting at the ED in November/December 2018 (standard 0-3h cTn I group) and in November/December 2020 (short 0-1h hs-cTn I group) were enrolled.
Objectives: This study aimed to assess discordance between results of instantaneous wave-free ratio (iFR), fractional flow reserve (FFR), and intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) in intermediate left main coronary (LM) lesions, and its impact on clinical decision making and outcome.
Methods: We enrolled 250 patients with a 40%-80% LM stenosis in a prospective, multicenter registry. These patients underwent both iFR and FFR measurements.

Aims: The contribution of adverse ventricular interdependence remains undervalued in heart failure or pulmonary vascular disease, and not much is known about its dynamic nature during exercise and respiration. In this study, we evaluated ventricular interaction during exercise in patients with heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) and patients with chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH) as compared with healthy controls.
Methods And Results: Forty-six subjects (10 controls, 19 CTEPH patients, and 17 HFpEF patients) underwent cardiac magnetic resonance imaging during exercise.
Purpose: Electrocardiogram (ECG) QRS voltages correlate poorly with left ventricular mass (LVM). Body composition explains some of the QRS voltage variability. The relation between QRS voltages, LVM and body composition in endurance athletes is unknown.
