Intravesical Bacillus Calmette-Guérin (BCG) therapy is a standard treatment for non-muscle invasive bladder cancer, but some patients experience side effects that lead to treatment discontinuation. Local side effects are typically mild, while systemic side effects can be severe and life-threatening. BCG therapy has immunotherapy effects on bladder cancer, but the mechanism is not fully understood.

Scrotal centesis: a broader role beyond the confines of the scrotum.

An elderly man was treated for severe acute scrotum pain with centesis. We report the diagnosis, underlying causes and management, and discuss the procedure. Centesis is performed rarely, but could be undertaken more often given the added benefits.

Renal cell carcinoma (RCC) has been shown to cause venous migration in the inferior vena cava (IVC). It is very important for preoperative imaging to be carried out, which will decide the surgical approach for the patient. Duplication of IVC is an uncommon anomaly.

Linitis plastica of the rectum secondary to metastatic prostate cancer: A case report of a rare presentation and literature review.

Linitis plastica is a rare tumor with poor prognosis. It is a circumferentially infiltrating intramural tumor which can result in rigid, nondistensible thickening of the affected organ. It most commonly affects the stomach, followed by the rectum, and can be due to primary or secondary cancer.

Materials And Methods: A systematic review and meta-analysis was conducted based on the PRISMA statement. From the initially retrieved 609 reports, we excluded the ineligible studies at 2 stages.

Aims: To examine the impact of palliative care on acute care hospitalizations, survival, symptoms, and quality of life (QOL) in patients with advanced heart failure.

Methods And Results: We conducted a systematic search of publications through CENTRAL, CINAHL, EMBASE, and MEDLINE originally up to July 2017, and then updated to June 2019. The study was registered (PROSPERO ID: CRD42017069685) prior to its initiation.

The Balance Between Metalloproteinases and TIMPs: Critical Regulator of Microvascular Endothelial Cell Function in Health and Disease.

Endothelial cells (EC), especially the microvascular EC (MVEC), have critical functions in health and disease. For example, healthy MVEC provide a barrier between the fluid and protein found within the blood, and the surrounding tissue. Following tissue injury or infection, the microvascular barrier is often disrupted due to activation and dysfunction of the MVEC.

Prevalence, incidence and predictors of pressure ulcers in a tertiary hospital in Singapore.

Objective: In 2002 the hospital under study implemented a pressure ulcer standard care plan. This follow-up study aimed to determine the prevalence and incidence of pressure ulcers, whether demographic characteristics and medical diagnosis differed between those individuals who did and those who did not develop ulcers and the predictors of pressure-ulcer formation.

Method: The prevalence study used a cross-sectional design, while the incidence study was a prospective cohort study.
