The purpose of this review is to describe a more precise type II classification of Boyd and Griffin (1949). It seems possible, according to the different intertrochanteric fractures, to describe three sub-groups. Classification takes account the most recent description of the coronal plane fracture (Briot 1980) and the behaviour of the compressed cancellous bone (Ender 1970).

The total Hip Arthroplasty of Sir John Charnley was a revolutionary step in the treatment of Hip diseases. Currently, the long-term follow-up of such a prosthesis can be estimated from fifteen to twenty years. The question is: is that delay sufficient to treat young patients with severe hip disease?In a recent publication, Rik Huiskes [3] claims that since, Charnley, no so-called innovation has either scientific proof in real efficacity nor in terms of longer longevity.

A case of incomplete rupture of the extensor tendon to the little finger is reported in a 64-year-old woman with an idiopathic Madelung's deformity which had been present since adolescence but had given rise to no problems. Surgical treatment by resection of the head of the ulna with fixation of the ulna to the radius gave a satisfactory result. Only two similar case reports of rupture of extensor tendons associated with Madelung's deformity have been published.

The authors have treated nineteen cases of desmoid fibroma of the limbs of which two were intraosseous. The severity of the lesion was greater when sited proximally in the limbs. In many patients, the tumours grew slowly and gave little incapacity.

The authors have reviewed 32 cases of severe varus deformity following supra-condylar fractures in childhood. The sequellae were mainly cosmetic, the function being preserved. All cases were treated by supra-condylar osteotomy fixed by screwing.
