Dose-response models express the effect of different dose or exposure levels on a specific outcome. In meta-analysis, where aggregated-level data is available, dose-response evidence is synthesized using either one-stage or two-stage models in a frequentist setting. We propose a hierarchical dose-response model implemented in a Bayesian framework.

We aimed to evaluate the relation between lateral T-wave inversion (TWI) and PMs characteristics in a cohort of athletes with no clinically demonstrable cardiac disease. Methods and Results We included 53 athletes (median age, 20 years; 87% men) with lateral TWI and no evidence of heart disease on clinical and cardiac magnetic resonance evaluation.

Pharmacogenomics (PGx) is a key area of focus for the North Carolina Precision Health Collaborative. Experts from Atrium Health's Levine Cancer Institute, Duke University/Duke Health System, Mission Health and the University of North Carolina (UNC) at Chapel Hill/UNC Health System have collaborated since 2017 to implement strategic PGx initiatives, including basic sciences research, translational research and clinical implementation of germline testing into practice and policy.

The aim of this multicenter study was to evaluate which VA characteristics predicted CMR abnormalities. Methods and Results We enrolled 251 consecutive competitive athletes (74% males, median age 25 [17-39] years) who underwent CMR for evaluation of VA.

Study Design And Setting: We conducted network meta-analyses (NMAs) of antidepressants every 5 years up to 2016 based on a comprehensive data set of double-blind randomized controlled trials. We identified CPGs and extracted their recommendations.

Methods And Results: We collected detailed anamnestic, clinical, instrumental, genetic, and histopathological findings as well as follow-up data in a series of AC patients who experienced a hot phase. A total of 23 subjects (12 males, mean age at the first episode 27 ± 16 years) were identified among 560 AC probands and family members (5%).

Background: Conduction disturbances after transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) are often transient. Limited data exist on anatomic factors predisposing to pacemaker dependency after TAVR. We sought to assess the rate and the possible predictors of pacemaker dependency after TAVR.

Crude hydroalcoholic extract (CHE) and fractions (insoluble (FI), dichloromethane (FDM), ethyl acetate (FEA) and butanol (FBu)) of leaves were assessed to determine the phenolic chemical composition by HPLC-ESI-MS/MS.

Two general approaches are used in the United Kingdom to facilitate this: an 'opt-in' approach (when clinicians communicate research opportunities to patients) and an 'opt-out' approach (all patients have the right to be informed of relevant research opportunities).

In Neanderthals, ontogenetic patterns in early life are still debated, with some studies suggesting an accelerated development and others indicating only subtle differences vs. modern humans.

Background: Amyloidosis is a rare systemic disease due to the extracellular tissue deposition of a fibrillar-shaped misfolded protein, called amyloid. Only two types of proteins commonly affect the heart leading to an infiltrative cardiomyopathy: immunoglobulin light chain and transthyretin (TTR) cardiac amyloidosis (CA). Despite the promising role of emerging imaging modalities, such as strain echocardiography, cardiac magnetic resonance and bone scintigraphy, its diagnosis is still often missed or delayed due to their inherent limitations and to a nonspecific clinical scenario with frequent concomitance of cardiac comorbidities.

Objective: To use systematic review and network meta-analysis to compare the association of using manualized psychotherapies and therapy components with reducing recurrences and stabilizing symptoms in patients with bipolar disorder.
Data Sources: Major bibliographic databases (MEDLINE, PsychInfo, and Cochrane Library of Systematic Reviews) and trial registries were searched from inception to June 1, 2019, for randomized clinical trials of psychotherapy for bipolar disorder.
Background: The Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE), the Alzheimer's Disease Assessment Scale-Cognitive Subscale (ADAS-Cog) and the Severe Impairment Battery (SIB) are widely used rating scales to assess cognition in Alzheimer's disease.
Objective: To understand the correspondence between these rating scales, we aimed to examine the linkage of MMSE with the ADAS-Cog and SIB total and change scores.
Methods: We used individual-level data on participants with Alzheimer's disease (n=2925) from five pivotal clinical trials of donepezil.
Backgrounds: Patients at greatest risk of severe clinical conditions from coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) and death are elderly and comorbid patients. Increased levels of cardiac troponins identify patients with poor outcome. The present study aimed to describe the clinical characteristics and outcomes of a cohort of Italian inpatients, admitted to a medical COVID-19 Unit, and to investigate the relative role of cardiac injury on in-hospital mortality.
